We're looking for a Software Engineering Manager to join the MyAI & LLM Infrastructure team at Snap!

What you’ll do:

  • Lead a team of machine learning engineers and software engineers to evolve Snap’s customer-facing LLM chatbot (MyAI), which has reached over 150 million users.

  • Build Snap’s LLM Infrastructure from the ground up, as we adopt LLMs across all of Snap to improve our content/user understanding, streamline content moderation and push the boundaries of how generative AI can enhance our recommendation systems.

  • Guide the team towards state-of-the-art LLM inference optimizations (e.g., quantization, batching, KV caching), distillation and fine-tuning to solve Snap’s business problems via LLMs

  • Work with product teams and engineers to make applications of GenAI/LLMs ubiquitous to Snapchat

  • Hire, grow and retain high-performing team members

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience setting the direction for customer-facing product teams leveraging machine learning / ranking / generative AI

  • Possess a strong background in ML inference, production AI systems, and distributed systems.

  • Strong management and mentorship skills, fostering a collaborative and innovative team culture

  • Ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally

  • Ability to lead and execute large, complex technical initiatives

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in a technical field such as Computer Science or equivalent experience

  • 8+ years of post-Bachelor’s software engineering experience; or Master’s degree in a technical field + 7+ year of software engineering experience

  • 2+ years of experience managing a team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Track record of delivery in rapidly changing, highly collaborative, multi-stakeholder environments

  • Experience with building and maintaining mission-critical and highly-available global systems

Compensation

In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position. These pay zones may be modified in the future.

Zone A (CA, WA, NYC):

The base salary range for this position is $229,000-$343,000 annually.


 

Zone B:

The base salary range for this position is $218,000-$326,000 annually.

Zone C:

The base salary range for this position is $195,000-$292,000 annually.

This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
