About the Role
We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our Growth Engineering team. This is a business-critical role for someone energized by the intersection of product development, experimentation, and measurable impact. Reporting to the VP of Engineering, you'll manage and grow a team of talented engineers focused on acquiring, activating, retaining, and monetizing users. What You'll Do
- Lead and manage a team of engineers, with plans to grow the team over time
- Drive strategy and execution for all Growth-related engineering initiatives, including onboarding, conversion optimization, monetization systems, and analytics and experimentation frameworks
- Collaborate closely with Product, Design, Marketing, and Data teams to prioritize initiatives and deliver measurable results
- Develop team members through coaching, feedback, and career growth opportunities
- Champion a data-informed culture by encouraging rigorous A/B testing and rapid iteration
- Contribute to the broader engineering leadership team and help shape the future of engineering at Descript
What We’re Looking For
- 2–3 years of engineering management experience, including managing individual contributors and shipping user-facing products
- Proven experience working on Growth teams or in a growth-focused role
- Strong technical background with the ability to engage deeply in architecture and design decisions
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines
- Experience growing and scaling teams
- Must be located in the San Francisco Bay Area and comfortable working in a hybrid environment
The base salary range for this role is $225,000- $275,000/year. Final offer amounts will carefully consider multiple factors, including prior experience, expertise, location, and may vary from the amount above.
