We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the FGA Developer Tooling team in India.
This team owns the end to end developer experience for FGA across OSS and SaaS, including SDKs in Go, JavaScript, .NET, Python, Java and other languages, the SDK generator that powers them, CLI workflows, IDE integrations, GitHub automation, developer documentation, and release strategy. All development is done in the open as open source, and we actively welcome and review community contributions.

As an Engineering Manager, you will build and grow a high performing team, drive execution across the developer tooling roadmap, and ensure we deliver a consistent and high quality developer experience to both OSS and SaaS users.
ResponsibilitiesLead and grow a team of engineers responsible for FGA SDKs, the SDK generator, CLI workflows, IDE integrations, and developer automation.
Drive execution of the Developer Tooling roadmap in partnership with Product and FGA Core, ensuring alignment across OSS and SaaS surfaces and delivering meaningful improvements to developers on a frequent and predictable cadence.
Oversee the evolution of the SDK generator and template framework to maintain cross language consistency, configurability, and long term maintainability.
Ensure consistent and high quality implementation of SDK features including authentication flows, error handling, retry logic, rate limiting, and advanced capabilities such as BatchCheck and ListRelations.
Establish and maintain strong engineering standards for testing, CI workflows, dependency management, release processes, and developer documentation.
Foster a strong open source culture by ensuring community pull requests are reviewed promptly and contributors are supported in reaching a mergeable state.
Partner closely with FGA Core on API design and semantics to ensure a clean and developer friendly experience across all tooling.
Support career growth and development through regular 1:1s, coaching, feedback, and performance management.
Recruit and hire strong engineers to build and scale the Developer Tooling team in India.
Maintain a team culture of ownership, transparency, rigor, and psychological safety in a distributed environment.
Have experience managing software engineering teams delivering SDKs, platforms, or developer tooling.
Have a strong technical background and are comfortable going deep into architecture and design discussions across multiple languages.
Have experience working in or contributing to open source projects.
Have experience managing geographically distributed teams.
Are skilled at coaching engineers across different career stages.
Are comfortable operating with ambiguity and helping create clarity across teams.
Thrive in collaborative environments that require strong cross functional alignment.
Are a strong communicator who can work effectively with technical and non technical stakeholders.
7+ years of software engineering experience with prior experience as an Engineering Manager or Technical Lead.
Strong understanding of SDK design, API ergonomics, authentication flows, and resilient distributed systems.
Experience with CI CD systems such as GitHub Actions and modern build workflows.
Familiarity with code generation frameworks such as OpenAPI Generator and templating systems.
Experience working in open source development models and PR based workflows.
Passion for authorization, identity, and developer experience
