- Estimated annual base pay: $113,200.00 (minimum) - $141,500.00 (midpoint) - $169,800.00 (maximum)

Are you ready to make your mark? If you’re a Drafting and Design Engineering Manager with CAD experience in the Aerospace Industry, we have an exciting opportunity for you. The Electro-Mechanical Systems (EMS) Drafting and Design Manager reports to the Engineering Director and oversees the activities of the drafting and design resources reporting up through Woodward’s Niles and Krakow EMS engineering sites covering products in our motors, sensors, actuation and pilot controls product lines. The role is based out of our world class Niles, IL facility which is home to both our primary engineering development center and our primary manufacturing center for these precision aerospace products.
What You Will Be Doing
- Maintaining and developing a highly effective and well-skilled staff including full-time, intern, and contract workers, to carry out actions to complete planned objectives. This involves utilizing the talent management system, completing review process and salary planning, maintaining and executing a training matrix, and supporting staffing of the group to meet business demands and objectives
- Creating and improving design tools, drafting standards, and workflows within the confines of Woodward’s Product Life Cycle (PLC) process that result in high quality and compliant products. This also includes integration of evolving CAD software solutions.
- Implementing and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to improve product development velocity and cost efficiency to meet project and group goals
- Utilizing the drafting and design team to improve the customer-perceived value of our products by utilizing risk analysis, Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), Lean, dimensional analysis, formal problem solving, DOE, Taguchi, etc.
- Estimating, budgeting, and tracking team workload to assign resources as required to achieve business objectives
- Overseeing configuration management processes.
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor's Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) required
- Master's degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS) preferred
- 6 to 8 years of Engineering experience in aerospace or closely related field
- Greenbelt/Lean experience
- Previous Management experience
- CAD system and Drafting Standards experience
