Engineering Manager, Developer Platform

We are looking for an Engineering Manager (all gemders) to join and lead our Database & Streaming squad in Delivery Hero’s Developer Platform tribe, to help us build resilient and cost effective infrastructure tooling for our customer base of software engineers across the globe.

Your Mission

• Lead the team responsible for building automation for data storage (SQL and NoSQL databases, caches) and data streaming components for our developers to use in our Developer Platform.

• Own the Product roadmap alongside your Product counterpart, and guide the team to build iteratively, to Deliver Value Fast.

• Find the right balance between customer ease of use and security requirements, so that developers can fully own the systems that they build using our tooling, while being compliant with internal and external security standards - such as PCI-DSS.

• Our mission is to build the tooling for our customers (software engineering teams) to deploy and manage their own infrastructure; this is not a DBA role nor an infrastructure management role.

What you need to be successful

• This is a software rather than a systems engineering team, so you are comfortable with the software development lifecycle from ideation to release via testing and staged releases.

• You can break a project down into its component parts and deliver those in an iterative way to deliver value fast and to build for the majority of our customers first.

• You are comfortable working in a heterogeneous environment with multiple stakeholders who have different requirements, and you’re able to make effective prioritisation decisions based on the information you have at hand.

• You have experience leading technical teams with engineers at different stages of their career journey, from managing and building up Junior engineers’ skills to mentoring and helping Staff and Principal level engineers to shine.

• Our architecture is built around Kubernetes Operators written in Golang, so a solid knowledge of both of those technologies is a strong plus.

• A strong understanding of either or both Data storage systems or Streaming systems, ideally in the cloud, is a strong plus.
