About the team:
The future of SailPoint is driven by its amazing Data Platform. Our Data Platform is expanding in size and scope and our teams are innovating in all areas of handling data at scale. We are looking for a manager to lead that innovation in Data Governance.
We are looking for a Software Engineering Manager who has a proven track record of leading an engineering team and who has a passion for integrating a data platform into the fabric of the Software Development Life Cycle. This is a high impact role. The team, the complexity of our data models, the size of the data, and the scope of our mandate are increasing quickly and the time to develop and stream data aggregations is decreasing. We're looking for someone eager to be a core part in growing our team and building the Data Platform culture at SailPoint.
What success looks like in the role:
Within the first 30 days you will:

  • Onboard into your new role, get familiar with our product offering and technology, get to know your team and proactively meet peers and stakeholders


  • Seek to deeply understand business problems or common engineering challenges and propose software architecture designs to solve them elegantly by abstracting useful common patterns.


  • Prioritize the team's work to align with our broader roadmap to maximize impact.


By 90 days:

  • Establish processes to improve the efficiency of development, data quality and operational cost.


  • Coach and develop direct reports to scale our Data Platform organization.


  • Lead change and technology initiatives with Data Platform peers and teams outside the organization


By 6 months:

  • You are fully comfortable in your role and with the day-to-day management of your team of data engineers and analysts tasked with mastering all aspects of Data streaming for an enterprise Data Platform


  • You are closely collaborating with stakeholders to identify and clarify business needs to answer.


  • You translate business needs into requirements, roadmaps, and operational metrics.


  • You are providing technical mentorship to members of the team and lead maturity of technology and team function.


By 1 year:

  • You have delivered on 30-day proposals


  • You own a 12-month roadmap for the team


  • Your team size and skills are aligned to your roadmap and is operating efficiently


  • You are engaged with architects and leaders to continue integration and value of Data Governance in SDLC and for non-engineering Data Platform customers


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, preferred not required


  • 3 - 5 years of people management experience with data engineers or analysts


  • Proven experience integrating Data Governance practices for an enterprise data platform


  • 5+ years of industry experience with enterprise data platforms used for data processing


  • 5+ years of industry experience with data catalog applications


  • 5+ years of experience building and deploying data governance practices and solutions


  • Excellent communication skills and comfort communicating with diverse technical stakeholders, including Product Manager, Data Science, Engineering, and DevOps.


  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to execute on ambiguous research tasks, distilling the essence of complex problems and translating to incremental goals.


  • Preferred, experience with Snowflake Data Platform and Alation Data Catalog


  • Candidates from Mexico, C1 or better English fluency


Benefits and Compensation listed vary based on the location of your employment and the nature of your employment with SailPoint.
As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the SailPoint Corporate Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission, along with potential eligibility for equity participation. SailPoint maintains broad salary ranges for its roles to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect SailPoint's differing products, industries, and lines of business. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity. We estimate the base salary, for US-based employees, will be in this range from (min-mid-max, USD):
$147,140 - $210,200 - $273,260
Base salaries for employees based in other locations are competitive for the employee's home location.
