Core Technologies within Axis R&D is an organization that drives, innovates, and provides key technologies to Axis' future products and solutions. A critical pillar of this work is Core Technologies Media (CTM), where we develop the foundational Video and Audio technologies, plus technologies in the related fields of Cloud & Connectivity.

As our organization grows and our technical ambitions expand, we are dividing our media organization into one team focused on Video (Core Technologies Video) and a second team focused on Audio and Cloud & Connectivity (Core Technologies Media). The current manager will continue to lead Core Technologies Video team, which is why we are now looking for a manager ready to lead the new Core Technologies Media team. You will lead a dedicated group of engineers with a diverse range of expertise, from low-level DSP and audio specialists to end-to-end system architecture and media delivery.

These two teams and their managers will work closely together. They will also maintain a tight collaboration with the rest of Core Technologies and several other organizations within Axis, where close cooperation is crucial for delivering our technologies to the customer.

The newly formed Core Technologies Media team will:

• Advance Audio Intelligence: Stay updated on audio processing and analytics, evaluating and developing algorithms for sound detection and classification (e.g., event detection) to provide automated alerts and deeper situational awareness.
• Pioneer Hybrid Media Delivery: Develop and optimize technologies for cloud and hybrid systems, including optimized video encoding and video storage technologies.
• Optimize Connectivity: Drive the integration and performance of 5G, 4G, and BTLE, ensuring robust media streaming even in the most challenging network conditions.
• Secure the Bitstream: Implement and evolve measures for signed video and audio to guarantee the integrity, authenticity, and security of media from the edge to the receiver.
• Bridge Hardware and Software: Work closely with Axis’ chip development organization to ensure that new audio and connectivity capabilities are seamlessly integrated into Axis’ proprietary hardware.
• Provide Expertise: Serve as the central knowledge hub for audio and connectivity, providing guidance to product teams, software organizations, and Axis management.

What you will do

As for all managers at Core Technologies, you will own and drive the long- and short-term agendas for your team, from strategies to daily planning. You will be the guardian of the balance between core product delivery, strategic bridging of technology gaps, and dedicated innovation time. You will work closely with your employees, ensuring they can reach their utmost potential. You will develop your team, its responsibilities, your ways of working, and the network where your team needs presence. And you will, of course, perform standard management tasks like recruitment, salary setting, budgeting, etc.

A few things make this role especially interesting.

You will lead a team responsible for an incredibly broad technology area, spanning from the physics of sound and digital signal processing to the complexities of mobile networks and cloud architecture. Success in this role comes from the ability to weave these diverse domains together; you will collaborate closely with hardware teams on chip integration, partner with cloud teams on system solutions, and align with the sister Core Technologies Video team to ensure a truly holistic media experience. In doing so, you will have a direct impact on the future of Axis’s ecosystem, driving our evolution from edge-centric devices to an integrated, intelligent, and connected hybrid world.

• Organizational Management: You are an adept communicator who can build bridges between different organizations and negotiate solutions that align multiple interests. You know how to align different stakeholders and drive cooperation, even when working with teams that have different priorities.
