The Role

The Commerce organization is looking for an experienced and passionate Engineering Team Manager to lead the team that will build the systems and integration of the future to allow Squarespace customers to manage and grow their business .

We are a cross-functional group of accomplished people who build the experiences and services necessary to guarantee a reliable and delightful experience from the moment a shopper starts to buy a product from a merchant to the moment they receive their purchase. Our platform powers a wide array of products like scheduling, e-commerce, member area, subscriptions, point of sale and others. We believe that a great product doesn't stop at a great user experience; it needs to have a great scalability, reliability and developer experience as well.

You will report directly to the Engineering Manager for Checkout in NY. This is a hybrid role working 3 days per week in our Dublin Office.

You'll Get To…
  • Distill the scope of the team and help hire a balanced group of engineers to excel as a unit.
  • Foster career development of direct reports through regular 1:1s and direct, actionable feedback.
  • Culture a positive team dynamic, recognize and celebrate wins that motivate the team.
  • Flow fluid team process and continuous improvements in efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Nurture high performing software engineering.
  • Evolve a deep understanding of relevant systems to campaign for appropriate architectural choices.
  • Plot with Design, Product and Engineering to champion and implement an impactful roadmap.
  • Bond departments of Engineering, Product, Design, Marketing, Data Science and Operations.
Who We're Looking For
  • 3+ years of recent experience managing a Product engineering team of three or more engineers.
  • 7+ years of industry experience deploying apps across large codebases with many contributors.
  • Experience developing and launching eCommerce products and experiences.
  • Ability to fluently translate, document and present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. 
  • Strong technical foundations to navigate the inherent tradeoffs in product engineering decisions.
  • A manager who prioritizes an inclusive culture of psychological safety and technical rigor.
  • A solid foundation in computer science, with competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design practices.
