This role will lead a small, high-performing engineering team focused on building the data and compute infrastructure that transforms text, imaging, video, waveform, EHR, genomics, and operational data into AI-ready assets. The Clinical Data Lake will serve as the central environment where data scientists and AI researchers can access, experiment, train, and deploy models across device, edge, and cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of scalable ML and data infrastructure that enables multimodal data access for AI and ML development across GE HealthCare.
- Build, mentor, and guide a small engineering team developing core components of the Clinical Data Lake platform.
- Partner with scientists, researchers, and AI teams to provide standardized data access, training pipelines, and compute orchestration for foundation and generative models.
- Architect distributed systems optimized for model training, fine-tuning, inference, and real-time reasoning across device, edge, and cloud environments.
- Collaborate with product management to align technical capabilities with research and clinical requirements.
- Integrate the Clinical Data Lake with GEHC AI Fabric and other enterprise systems to support end-to-end AI lifecycle management.
- Implement rigorous standards for data governance, observability, and Responsible AI, ensuring reproducibility, compliance, and security.
- Continuously evaluate emerging technologies in multimodal learning, generative AI, and agentic systems to advance GEHC’s AI infrastructure.
Qualifications
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related STEM field.
- 10+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering or software architecture, with at least 3 years in people or technical leadership.
- Deep expertise in machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, and agentic AI systems.
- Proven experience building and optimizing ML infrastructure and pipelines for multimodal data (text, imaging, waveform, EHR, genomics, video).
- Proficiency in Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and distributed computing frameworks (Spark, Ray, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with LLM and agentic AI frameworks (Hugging Face, LangChain, OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.).
- Experience working in regulated environments with strong understanding of privacy, security, and compliance standards (HIPAA, GDPR).
- Excellent collaboration and leadership skills, able to connect technical development with business and research priorities.
