Great Plains Manufacturing, a proud subsidiary of Kubota, is seeking an experienced Engineering Team Lead to join our Construction Equipment (CE) Attachment Product Development team in Salina, KS. 

The Engineering Team Lead will lead the design, development, validation, and continuous improvement of Kubota-branded construction equipment attachments while providing technical leadership and managing project execution.

This is an on-site position based in Salina, KS and typically works Monday through Thursday from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Occasional out-of-state travel is required. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and supervise the CE Attachment engineering team, with the focus on design and development of Ground Engaging and Material Handling attachments for Compact Track Loaders and Excavators.
  • Own product development lifecycle from concept through product release using the Stage Gate process: planning, design, testing, validation, and launch.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to onsite and overseas contract engineers, driving technical excellence and career development.
  • Review engineering deliverables (designs, calculations, drawings, specifications) for accuracy, safety and quality compliance.
  • Drive innovation and product improvements with emphasis on performance, durability, manufacturability, and cost optimization.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements.
  • Manage multiple engineering projects concurrently from concept through production, setting priorities, schedules, budgets, etc.
  • Coordinate cross-functional collaboration with manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and product management teams.
  • Follow all Great Plains and OSHA safety regulations and wear prescribed safety and protective equipment.
  • Other duties may be assigned that require additional qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree (BS) in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural or BioSystems Machinery Engineering, or related engineering discipline from a four-year college or university.
  • 7+ years of design or product engineering experience in construction equipment, heavy machinery, agricultural equipment, or related industries.
  • 2+ years of supervisory or management experience leading cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex engineering projects. 
  • Strong foundation in structural design, welding, fabrication, hydraulics, and mechanical systems.
  • Proficient with CAD tools such as Creo, CATIA, Windchill and FEA applications.
  • Able and willing to travel out of state for multiple days during development phases.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
