About Unity Advisory
We are looking for an experienced Engineering Lead to lead the development of Unity Advisory’s Core Internal AI-Enabled Products and Software Platform.
This is a senior, hands-on engineering role focused on building and shipping internal software products that power how Unity Advisory operates. You will lead the development of production-grade applications, services, and tools that enable AI-driven workflows across the firm.
This is not a client-facing role. Instead, you will partner closely with internal product, data, and engineering stakeholders to deliver scalable, reliable, and well-crafted software products that solve real operational problems.
You will combine strong software engineering fundamentals with product awareness — ensuring what we build is not only technically sound, but usable, maintainable, and aligned with internal user needs.
What You’ll Do
Build and Ship Internal AI-Enabled Products
Lead the development and continuous improvement of Unity Advisory’s internal AI-powered applications and supporting software services.
Take ownership of delivering end-to-end product capabilities — from early concept and prototyping through to production deployment and iteration.
Translate internal user needs into well-scoped, testable, production-ready software solutions.
Work closely with product and data stakeholders to define requirements, prioritize features, and ship meaningful improvements.
Drive Engineering Excellence
Design and implement scalable backend systems, APIs, and application components that power AI-enabled workflows.
Write high-quality code and remain hands-on in implementation where needed.
Guide teams in evolving prototypes into stable, well-tested, maintainable software products.
Establish strong engineering standards around:
Code quality and reviews
Automated testing
CI/CD pipelines
Release management
Observability and monitoring
Continuously improve system performance, reliability, and cost efficiency as adoption grows.
Product-Oriented Technical Leadership
Own key technical decisions with a product-first mindset — balancing speed of delivery with long-term maintainability.
Define clear integration patterns between internal products, AI services, and enterprise systems.
Communicate trade-offs, risks, and delivery timelines clearly to leadership and stakeholders.
Mentor and elevate other engineers, raising the overall engineering quality and product thinking across the team.
Contribute to shaping the roadmap of the internal AI product suite, identifying opportunities for simplification, reuse, and impact.
What You Bring
7+ years of experience in software engineering, including time in senior or lead roles.
Proven experience building and shipping production software products — not just designing systems.
Strong hands-on experience in backend and application development.
Experience designing and implementing APIs and service-based systems.
Solid understanding of:
Application architecture and maintainable code design
Data access patterns and integration with data platforms
Operating systems in cloud or distributed environments
A product mindset — you think about usability, iteration, feedback loops, and long-term value, not just technical elegance.
Experience delivering software in environments requiring security, governance, and operational discipline.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with high ownership and accountability.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
A hands-on leader who is willing to dive into code while guiding overall direction.
Nice to Have
Experience building internal products, developer tooling, or shared services within a growing organization.
Exposure to AI-enabled applications or data-intensive systems in real-world production environments.
Experience iterating on products post-launch, using feedback and metrics to drive improvements.
Background in professional services, advisory, or complex enterprise environments.
Experience scaling early-stage internal tools into widely adopted, reliable internal products.
