Onsite - This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Flint, Michigan, on a full-time basis.
The Role
As an Engineering Lead , you will provide direction to a small group of technical employees who are responsible for providing technical support for specific operations. Your role will involve overseeing and coordinating launch activities to ensure readiness for the production of new products and manufacturing processes.
Additionally, you will collaborate with plants and/or Manufacturing Engineering Staffs to handle engineering projects. Your expertise and leadership will be crucial in ensuring the successful execution of these projects and driving continuous improvement in manufacturing operations.
What You'll Do
- Execute allocated work following standard launch processes
- Oversee the process development, equipment installation, debug, runoff, validation, and continuous improvement activities required to produce high-quality engines.
- Supporting the production team and skilled trades with data for resolving other issues not assigned to engineering
- Identify and execute projects to support achievement of departmental business objectives and continuous improvement of safety, quality, cost, and reliability.
- Evaluate or monitor expenditures for processes and/or equipment
- Analyze and implement product or machinery designs for the best method for manufacturing processes
- Propose and evaluate the processes for equipment in assigned area
- Direct the design, development, and/or improvement of manufacturing processes for assigned area
- Interact on a regular basis with design, product and manufacturing engineering staffs
- Maintenance / Production Guidance (technical troubleshooting and direction, safety counsel)
- Provide direction to engineering support group and vendors
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and/or equivalent experience with at least 5 years of engineering experience.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively lead and manage a team of people.
- Proficiency in project management, including planning, organizing, and executing projects to achieve desired outcomes.
- Ability to effectively manage team workload, ensuring tasks and responsibilities are assigned and completed in a timely manner.
- Engineering experience, particularly in process or controls, with a solid understanding of engineering principles and practices.
- Excellent teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve issues in a proactive and efficient manner.
