Engineering Lead - Data

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Lead to join our dynamic global data organization, focused on building our backend data systems at scale. In this role, you will lead multiple production engineering teams, partnering closely with backend engineering data science and machine learning, data engineering and platform engineering teams to ensure the scalability and reliability of products core to our business.

What you’ll do

• Leadership and management: Lead and mentor a diverse team of engineering leaders and individual contributors, focusing on performance management and talent recognition. Ensure alignment with company goals and foster a high-performance culture.
• Technical excellence: Guide the team through system design and architecture challenges, and play a key role in evaluating the future of our tech stack and ways of working
• Production systems: Manage and improve live production systems that make critical decisions and impact significant revenue streams at a large scale. Ensure robustness, scalability, and efficiency in all deployed solutions.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with product, engineering, infrastructure, sales and other key stakeholders across Adyen to foster seamless collaboration and drive product development excellence

Who you are

• Leadership Expertise: At least two years of experience leading leaders across several topics within the same domain and 3+ years of experience leading individual contributors.
• Technical Expertise: You have hands-on experience in dealing with high-availability distributed and data-intensive systems, which may include on-line and off-line flows (e.g. Machine Learning applications). Our tech stack include Java, Python, postgresql, distributed databases (e.g. Cassandra), containers (K8s, Docker, Nomad), ETL (Airflow), distributed computing (Spark), etc.
• Innovative Mindset: You relish challenging the status quo and possess an innate curiosity to question the "why."
• Leadership Qualities: You are a dynamic leader adept at fostering alignment across multiple teams, with solid coaching and mentoring capabilities
• Strategic Thinking: You have a track record of collaborating with senior leadership to shape strategic direction, including product roadmaps
• Communication and Team Player: As an exceptional communicator, you foster a culture of collaboration while exhibiting robust management skills and technical acumen
