Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Engineering Lead to join the Account Squad and lead and guide high-performing teams. 

In this role you'll be at the forefront of building products that have a direct and measurable impact on both individual customers as well as our business customers and the future of global finance. 

You will be instrumental in leading the team, building the team and driving both the technical and product roadmap and ensuring we continue to build for scale in a fast-paced environment.

You’ll have the opportunity to make an immediate impact by working on some of our most critical projects, including:

  • Enhancing the entire payments experience for all of our customers.

  • Improving our core platform to boost multi-product adoption and increase cross-currency volume.

  • Proactively protecting and assisting customers through key lifecycle moments, such as account suspensions and relocations.

Building new functionality that gives businesses greater control over their team's access and spending.

 

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will be an active member of the team. 

You will:

  • Oversee all aspects of people management, including performance reviews, coaching, and career development to drive technical excellence.

  • Drive technical decision-making and product direction in close collaboration with product managers, designers, and other key stakeholders.

  • Champion a strong product mindset, ensuring every technical solution is designed with the customer's needs at its core.

  • Dive into the codebase to unblock complex challenges, perform code reviews, and guide architectural decisions that ensure our systems can scale globally.

  • Collaborate across functions, including legal, operations, and other engineering teams, to deliver high-impact, large-scale projects.

Qualifications

We are fully aware that it is uncommon for a candidate to have all skills required and we fully support everyone in learning new skills with us. So if you have some of those listed below and are eager to learn more we do want to hear from you!

You will have:

  • Proven experience leading and mentoring high-performing engineering teams.This includes the day-to-day management of engineers, focusing on professional development, performance and the successful delivery of complex projects

  • Strong hands-on experience with Java (8+) and the Spring Framework.

  • A deep understanding of microservices and event-driven architectures.

  • Experience leading high-impact, large-scale projects.

  • A product mindset (where you think about customer impact, not just technical implementation).

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with experience in conflict resolution.

  • Experience working closely with multiple functions (e.g: Product, Design, Analytics).

You might also have: 

  • A background in Fintech is a plus, but not required.

  • Experience in a startup environment, delivering value quickly and iteratively.

  • The ability to "wear many hats" and take on challenges outside of your primary responsibilities.
