The Marmon HDT Research and Development Group works with the various business units of the Marmon Heavy Duty Transportation Group serving the heavy-duty commercial vehicle market.  R&D engineers take a hands-on approach to existing and new product development from identifying the voice of the customer and ideation through design implementation and validation.  In addition, R&D provides product testing to various business units at the Cullman and Jasper Test Centers.  This position allows for hands-on learning in these Test Centers in test operation and test development.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Assist in performing various lab tests.
• Assist in developing new test fixtures and apparatus including mechanical and electromechanical aspects.
• Analyze various data sets from engineering tests and trials.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment and adhere to all safety procedures.
• Perform other design engineering work as needed in the department.
• Other duties as assigned

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (COMPENTENCY STATEMENT(S))

• Pursuing a B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical and Computer or relevant Engineering curriculum.
• Experience with CAD software.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Aptitude with learning code development.
• Self-motivated and works independently or as an integral part of a team as required.
• High interest in manufacturing, product development and advanced technology.
