The Engineering Data Specialist proactively manages the timely and effective implementation of new product releases and product design changes in support of engineering and manufacturing goals and objectives.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of material master codes & records in SAP as well as Bill of Materials (BOM’s) – understand how the master data affects transactions within the various functions required to engineer, manufacture & sell materials
- Review, verify, distribute, and execute engineering changes & new product releases in SAP as part of the Engineering Change Order (ECO) process
- Check & resolve any issues found during the ECO implementation to properly resolve issues in engineering, manufacturing, and marketing
- Create & edit material master data, document info records, BOMs, and engineering change related data into SAP
- Run Winshuttle transactions/queries to support SAP activities as well as special requests (i.e. mass uploads or changes)
- Maintain engineering documentation & files in SharePoint and Engineering servers
- Assist with the task workflow & help resolve issues during the execution of the ECO to ensure each is completed in the required time
- Research and resolve inquiries & requests regarding material master data coming from Customer Service, Marketing, Costing, Manufacturing, and other domestic and international Nordson locations. This includes extension of materials into N America sales org from other geographies
- Assist in the development of tools, like Winshuttle scripts, to improve the efficiency of the master data entry & change management process
- Utilize Microsoft Excel to export, analyze, and validate SAP data
- Assist in the development & training with standard work for the ECO process
- Support and assist in the completion of continuous improvement projects for the ECO process
Education and Experience Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business, marketing, data analytics or related field
Experience:
- Data entry/management in SAP required
- At least 3-years of business experience with demonstrated success in one or more of the following:
- Engineering change management
- Data analytics
- Master data management
- Material planning
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge & experience with SAP including data structure and industry standard tables and transactions
- Demonstrated strength in problem solving, SAP data entry troubleshooting, and analytics
- Knowledge & experience with documentation change management processes
- Effective communication skills – both written and verbal
- Enthusiastic, highly organized, self-starter who thrives in very detail-oriented environment
- Able to work well under aggressive schedules
- High level of competency of Microsoft Office products (particularly Excel)
- Knowledge of engineering standards is a plus
- Project management skills
