Meter's mission and long term ambition
Meter builds better internet infrastructure. We make it exceptionally easy for any business to have great computer networking, internet, and Wi-Fi. Businesses of all sizes and industries increasingly rely on internet infrastructure for daily operations, yet getting connected today is incredibly difficult. To solve this problem, Meter builds and manages a vertically integrated solution across hardware, software, and operations. We believe people who build hardware and software should be the ones responsible for it. Our ambition is to evolve internet infrastructure into a utility.
This role is critical to Meter's success
AI and Networking/IT suffer from opposite problems. With much unrealized hype, AI is still finding its world-shaping use cases — while Networking has largely been seen as a slow and commoditized field. At Meter, we view Networking as just the opposite.
- Every digital application in the world involves packets going through networking hardware and software. Tens of billions of dollars are spent annually on Networking.
- Much like Tesla, Meter's hardware gathers data, and we’re building models to drive decision-making and automate networks end-to-end.
- Network engineers rank second only to software engineers in terms of the highest number of jobs in the tech industry.
We are building a world class applied research and engineering team to realize this level of automation in Networking, seen as one of the most ambitious and technically challenging applications being pursued in AI.
With the team, compute, and roadmap in place, we need high quality training data and evaluation data. This data will be the bedrock of our intelligence applications.
Meter is looking for a high agency, team-first colleague to accelerate our data collection efforts. This person will be responsible for collecting and generating quality data through both management of teams and individual efforts. The right person will be comfortable with vague assignments, managing teams of data collection specialists, and collaborating with engineers while possessing a strong attention to detail and high sense of urgency.
This role is based out of our San Francisco HQ office.
You will have an impact by
- Owning the creation of data used in our AI models built in-house. You will do this by creating critical training and evaluation data through (i) written sources (ii) generated network data.
- Auditing your team’s collection quality and providing necessary coaching.
- Collaborating with Meter’s research and engineering teams to learn about how we build models and refining data inputs into the models.
- Building systems to generate training data at scale.
- Developing data best-practices that we will use for ongoing data creation efforts.
- If time allows, writing programming scripts investigating data quality and statistics.

What We Do
Meter provides internet infrastructure for businesses. Headquartered in San Francisco, we were founded in 2015 to build enterprise-grade networks that are faster, more accessible, and more secure. Our full-stack approach combines hardware, software, and operations so that any company can seamlessly run on a reliable and modern network. We believe the internet is a fundamental utility that businesses should be able to turn on as easily as water and electricity.
Our team includes people who have helped scale successful companies and recent graduates who are eager to learn and build. We’re looking for people who are excited to work on interesting problems, enjoy learning from and helping each other, and above all, are kind and ambitious. We’re building for the long term, and we’re just getting started.
