- Collaborate with senior engineering leadership to define and execute the strategic vision for the Controls Engineering discipline, aligning with company objectives.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers, overseeing quality, timeliness, and professional growth.
- Implement and continuously improve standardized project methodologies, engineering processes, tools, and best practices.
- Coordinate and balance workload using both internal and external resources to meet project deadlines.
- Support succession planning, project implementation, and technical excellence across the team.
- Oversee the design, development, and commissioning of automation controls for material handling systems.
- Review electrical designs and provide feedback on design decisions, ensuring adherence to global engineering standards and templates.
- Act as a technical escalation point for complex issues and engineering design reviews.
- Analyze, recommend, and/or develop new concepts, standards, and technology for higher quality and cost effectiveness.
- Ensure project deliverables are completed within established budgets, schedules, and quality requirements.
- Recruit, select, orient, train, assign, schedule, coach, counsel, and discipline employees; communicate job expectations and review job contributions.
- Foster a culture of innovation, ownership, accountability, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Mentor and help train newer engineers, supporting their professional development.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional leaders in Software, Project Management, Sales Engineering, and Product/R&D teams to ensure alignment on project execution and system integration.
- Serve as a technical liaison for key client engagements, ensuring delivery excellence and fostering long-term partnerships.
- Lead risk assessments, mitigation planning, and stakeholder communications for complex projects.
- Champion continuous improvement practices and drive adoption across engineering teams.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Controls Engineering (Mechatronics), Computer Science, or related discipline.
- 6+ years of experience in controls engineering, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role overseeing engineering teams.
- Deep experience in material handling systems, conveyor automation, and industrial control systems.
- Experience using CAD software for drawings and schematics (e.g., AutoCAD).
- Strong business acumen and ability to align technical decision-making with organizational goals.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and presentation skills.
- Ability to travel up to 25% to various job site locations, trade shows, and offices.
The base salary range for this role is $115,900 to $173,800. This base salary range represents the low and high end of the base salary range for this position. Actual base salary offered will vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and performance.
