THE JOB:
The Continuous Improvement (CI) Manager is responsible for leading and executing productivity, cost reduction, and lean transformation initiatives across the manufacturing site. This role oversees a team of Manufacturing and CI engineers, manages the ProTrak productivity project portfolio, leads capital expenditure (CapEx) projects (including machinery upgrades, new technology, and automation), and provides technical expertise to drive operational excellence. The CI Manager is a key leader in advancing our SPX (Stanley Production System) implementation and ensuring the achievement of annual productivity, cost, and lean maturity targets.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Manufacturing and CI engineers to deliver productivity and cost reduction projects.
- Manage the ProTrak deck, ensuring all productivity projects are tracked, executed, and reported accurately.
- Oversee CapEx projects, including machinery upgrades, new technology implementation, and automation initiatives.
- Provide technical guidance and support to engineers on complex technical projects.
- Drive lean and continuous improvement initiatives as part of SPX implementation, including Kaizen events, 5S, value stream mapping, and standard work development.
- Analyze operational data to identify improvement opportunities and root causes of inefficiencies.
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for productivity, cost, and lean maturity.
- Facilitate cross-functional teams to implement sustainable process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards in all improvement activities.
- Prepare and present regular updates on project status, cost savings, and lean maturity progress to site leadership.
THE PERSON:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing, process improvement, or operations management.
- Demonstrated experience leading productivity, cost reduction, and lean/continuous improvement projects.
- Strong technical background in manufacturing processes, equipment, and automation.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making skills.
- Effective communicator with strong presentation and stakeholder management abilities.
- Experience with project management tools and methodologies.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification strongly preferred.
- Experience with capital project management and technology implementation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, data analysis tools, and project tracking systems (e.g., ProTrak).
- Change management and coaching skills.
- Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
- Strong leadership and team development capabilities.
- Results-oriented, with a passion for driving operational excellence and continuous improvement.
The salary range for this position is $110,600-$178,000
- This is the lowest to highest annual fulltime salary range we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. The salary offered within the range may vary depending on multiple factors including job level, geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience and in compliance with local wage requirements. Please note that salary is only one component of total rewards at Stanley Black & Decker.
