Position Summary
We are seeking an Engineering & Billing Specialist to analyze SCADA/meter data, manage billing and load forecasting, and support delivery point coordination with ERCOT/SPP. This role works closely with member cooperatives to ensure accurate data, compliant operations, and efficient billing systems. Ideal candidates are analytical, detail-oriented, and thrive in a collaborative environment. This role is ideal for a highly analytical, detail-oriented professional who is and comfortable working with energy data and billing systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze graphs of meter and SCADA data for accuracy, coordinate validation with GSEC personnel and Member Cooperatives.
- Maintain data exports from SCADA to MV-90.
- Assist GSEC Members with the establishment of new delivery points, including registration with ERCOT and SPP Network Integrated Transmission Service Agreement.
- Attend various ERCOT and SPP working groups and taskforces as needed.
- Work with GSEC Members on ERCOT and SPP under frequency and manual load shed plans.
- Coordinate required contract activities between GSEC Members and designated ERCOT Transmission Operator.
- Work with GSEC Members to create and maintain an inventory of renewable facilities on member’s systems and ensure compliance with GSEC’s renewable program.
- Conduct surveys and analyze Member Cooperative data for initiatives, producing reports and presentations as needed.
- Assists GSEC and members with NERC compliance and documentation.
- Gather and edit interval data for wholesale billing and interpret and apply outage reports to that interval data.
- Lead meeting to reconcile settlement data with departmental staff and vendors.
- Manage data in MV-Web for use by Member Cooperatives and GSEC staff.
- Prepare accurate and complete billing units for all Members.
- Responsible for preparing billing request/questions to Member Cooperatives, staff and consultants.
- Provide and develop reports to support various business functions and coordinate with: Production, Regulatory, Compliance, and other departments as needed.
- Partner with Accounting department to coordinate and maintain ITRON, or other similar product, and assist with the assessment and implementation of upgrades or changes to the Golden Spread core billing system.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or engineering technology required.
- 3-5 years’ relevant experience; electric utility industry experience preferred.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks.
- Must be able to organize work to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated experience in promoting and working in team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally with others inside and outside of the company, including member cooperatives and transmission owners.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Products, spreadsheets, databases, modeling, and CAD and network modeling.
- Proven problem-solving capability.
- Working knowledge of basic electric theory, statistics and analytical processes, and network architecture.
