Wells Fargo is seeking an Engineering Associate - IAM Application Engineering to support responsible for protecting the company from cyber threats, partnering with businesses across Wells Fargo, assessing information security risk, providing identity services, delivering security engineering, and operating enterprise-wide Cybersecurity functions.
Within Cybersecurity, the Identity and Access Management (IAM) Tools Engineering (ITE) team builds modern, user-centric automation and self-service applications that support identity lifecycle management across the company.
In this role, you'll help design, build, test, and support modern, AI-enabled applications that drive IAM self-service and automation across the enterprise. Working side-by-side with senior engineers, product managers, and UX designers in an Agile environment, you'll gain full lifecycle development experience while building core skills in full stack engineering, cloud technologies, and secure coding-perfect for early-career engineers who want to learn, collaborate, and make an immediate impact.
You will also participate in the Career Opportunities in Development and Engineering (CODE) Program - a two-year development program that runs alongside your full-time experience. CODE is designed for recent grads, coding bootcamp alumni and individuals with hands-on technical experience looking to break into tech.

In this role, you will:
- Contribute to the design, development, testing, and maintenance of web-based and cloud-hosted applications supporting IAM capabilities.
- Develop and enhance user interfaces using React, focusing on usability, responsiveness, and accessibility standards.
- Assist in designing and implementing secure backend services and RESTful APIs that integrate with enterprise IAM platforms.
- Help build and improve self-service IAM applications that streamline workflows and increase user autonomy.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to implement AI-enabled features, including working with Large Language Model (LLM) APIs and learning prompt engineering fundamentals.
- Participate fully in Agile ceremonies: sprint planning, daily standups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Translate user stories and Figma prototypes into production-ready code with guidance from senior engineers.
- Write, test, debug, and document code following secure software development practices and established engineering standards.
- Support application deployments, version upgrades, and defect resolution across development and test environments.
- Learn and apply DevOps and CI/CD practices, including automated testing, code reviews, and pipeline execution.
- Partner with peers, product teams, UX, and support groups to deliver sprint commitments and resolve technical issues.
- Maintain documentation and contribute to team knowledge sharing to support operational readiness.
Required Qualifications:
6+ months of Technology Engineering and Solutions experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
Desired Qualifications:
- 6+ months of experience with Java and/or Python, and an understanding of backend or service oriented architectures.
- Familiarity with React, JavaScript, and/or TypeScript for building modern web applications.
- Basic understanding of RESTful APIs and web service integration.
- Exposure to cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure, or OpenShift) through coursework, projects, or hands on experience.
- Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar).
- Awareness of secure coding practices and interest in application security or DevSecOps.
- Experience working in Agile Scrum or Kanban environments.
- Strong problem solving, analytical, and debugging skills.
- Experience with Atlassian tools such as JIRA and Confluence is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, distributed team environment.
- Strong communication skills and eagerness to learn from feedback and mentorship.
Job Expectations:
- The selected candidate for this role must be able to begin employment by May 13, 2026, in a full-time capacity.
- This position is required to work from the designated posted office location and must be able to meet all expectations of the current hybrid work schedule, including regular in-office attendance as defined by the team and program requirements.
- Actively engage in the two-year CODE Program, including participation in training, mentorship, networking events, and career development activities.
- Relocation assistance is not provided for this role.
