Calling all Mechanical students/skilled professionals with a passion for hands-on prototyping and mechanical engineering! If you've got experience in workshop machines, working with tools, or building things from scratch, we want to hear from you.
As an Engineering Assistant, you’ll play a key role in expanding the capacity of our Prototyping Solutions Team, performing routine maintenance practices, enabling the delivery of next-generation products for our Sleep and Health business. You’ll be part of a team that’s integral to ResMed’s growth, driving engineering excellence and innovation in medical device development.
Let’s Talk About the Role:

Operate and maintain 3D printers, moulding presses, and other workshop tools to support prototype development.

Perform hands-on prototyping tasks such as cutting, gluing and assembling parts for product development engineers.

Manage consumables inventory and assist with material procurement for the prototyping function.

Learn and apply advanced prototyping techniques to bring innovative concepts to life.

Collaborate with a large, dynamic team, working closely with engineers to achieve project goals.

Work within a safe, OH&S-compliant environment, adhering to medical device development standards and ResMed’s quality systems.

Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes and workflow efficiency.

Hands-on and Crafty: You’re a natural maker, passionate about creating and building with excellent hand skills.

Polytechnic Student or Graduate: A background in mechanical engineering, prototyping, or precision assembly is ideal.

Prototyping Enthusiast: Experience with 3D printing, moulding presses, or workshop tools is a huge plus!

Adaptable and Eager to Learn: You thrive in a fast-paced, discovery-driven environment and are excited to learn new things.

Team-Oriented Communicator: You enjoy working in a big team, collaborating with engineers, and sharing ideas.

Detail-Oriented and Organized: You have a keen eye for detail and the organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities.

Minimum 1 year of experience in a related field (e.g., workshop operations, prototyping, or precision assembly) preferred.

Proficiency in using basic hand tools and workshop machinery.

Familiarity with medical device manufacturing or precision engineering is a bonus.
