GMC is seeking a motivated Engineering Assistant Project Manager to join our Tampa, FL office. The successful candidate(s) will support project teams by applying foundational technical knowledge and assisting in the development of scopes, budgets, and schedules. The role involves producing accurate project documents, performing quality assurance tasks, and supporting risk management efforts under the guidance of senior staff. A growing understanding of firm standards, client expectations, and industry practices is essential, along with a desire to become more client-focused. The individual contributes to team success through technical support and effective collaboration across project phases.
Essential functions and responsibilities include:
Foundational- Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of the firm’s values and standards for project delivery and client management

Technical
- Applies knowledge of principles and practices in assignments and related fields
- Assists with specific project development using technical expertise and project-related experience
- Provides data and assistance for development of project scopes, budgets and schedules as assigned
- Confirms accuracy of technical aspects of projects
- QA/QC
- Executes project documents with conformity and quality assurance
- Recognizes and reports risk management concerns to Project Manager as appropriate
- Assists with Construction Equipment and Project Closeout procedures
Team & Customer Focus
- Client and Customer Focus
- Support client satisfaction for assigned Project Manager
- Assists with the development of projects as needed
- Applies knowledge acquired through progressive experience to resolve issues and assess conditions
- Assists with the development of proposals and supporting reports to provide professional services or obtain funding for projects or programs

- Prepares contract documents, reports, amendments, change orders and project modifications as project progresses

Minimum Qualifications:
- Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering from ABET accredited university
- 7+ years of experience in Engineering industry, preferred
- Professional Engineer (PE), preferred
- Engaged in learning to gain knowledge of technical and contemporary issues
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Travel Expectation
- Up to 20%
- Engineers will be expected to travel to various work sites to perform fieldwork. Company cars and/or rental vehicles shall be utilized to travel between work sites.
Physical Demands
- This position requires work to be performed in an office environment (80%) and in the field (20%)
- Work done in the field may consist of exposure to various types of weather and temperatures. You may also be exposed to pollutants, chemicals, insects, and possibly water-borne pathogens, Employees are required to wear appropriate protective clothing and gear when performing fieldwork
- Office work may consist of prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and perform

Skills Required
