Job Objective/Purpose of Job: The Manager Engineering and Projects is the head of the Engineering and Projects Team which is also the Project Management Office (PMO) of Cainergy International Limited (CIL). In this role, he/she is responsible for ensuring that all projects executed by the PMO are delivered safely, to the clients’ specifications, in accordance with the best international engineering standards and practices and within approved budget and schedule. He/She will direct and control all engineering and project activities. In addition to projects being delivered by CIL, the PMO will deliver projects for other subsidiaries of the Cainergy Group as directed by Cainergy Group management.
The Manager, Engineering and Projects plays a leadership role in CIL where he/she will drive excellence in all engineering and project disciplines, to ensure profitable delivery of projects on behalf of Cainergy
Job Duties/ Responsibilities/ Accountabilities:
• Direct development of project scope, cost, schedule, design, drawings, and field support for multiple concurrent projects
• Direct resource planning, cost estimating, and scheduling functions in coordination with, Resource Management functions
• Plan, organize, coordinate, and control projects in accordance with established policies, procedures, systems, and requirements approved by the company.
• Supervise project leads directly
• Direct project staff, including recommendations relating to employee selection, training, and performance monitoring
• Coordinate the activities of multi-discipline project teams to meet client’s safety, cost, quality, schedule, technical, and operability objectives and Integrate safety into all aspects of design and execution
• Manage technical evaluations & recommendations, drawings and reviews.
• Ability to participate in solving difficult technical issues requiring a broad knowledge related to technical/functional responsibilities.
• Provide value-added expertise in engineering subjects and project leadership.
• Confer with management, business development staff to discuss project specifications and procedures.
• Provide execution oversight for important research, development, test and evaluation efforts.
• Coordinate and direct projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities.
• Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing rules, and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services.
• Review and recommend or approve contracts and cost estimates.
• Consult or negotiate with clients to prepare project specifications.
• Set technical goals within broad outlines provided by top management.
• Present and explain proposals, reports, and findings to clients.
• Recruit technical employees; assign, direct, and evaluate their work; and oversee the development and maintenance of engineering staff competence.
• Prepare budgets, bids, and contracts, and direct the negotiation of research contracts.
• Provide resources, technical guidance and budget accountability to support project activities.
• Establish staff performance expectations and provide regular feedback from both informal and scheduled reviews.
• Represent engineering team in product development requirements and creation of schedules and budgets.
• Perform any other related task as may be assigned by the Chief Operating Officer
Requirements
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Education Qualification:
• Bachelor degree in any Engineering discipline or any other related field
• Membership of Project Management Institute or related professional affiliation would be an advantage
Experience:
• Minimum of 15 years of experience managing a broad base of project activities including design, procurement, project scheduling, controlling budgets, knowledge of fabrication, operations & maintenance and commissioning
• PMP Certification will be an advantage.; Proficiency with computerized project management and reporting tools
• Working knowledge of engineering and asset integrity management or O & M in oil and gas industry
• Proven record of successfully managing multiple concurrent projects, achieving all project safety, cost, quality, schedule, technical, and operability objectives
• Able to perform effectively in a fast-paced work environment with multiple priorities and deadlines
• Strong IT skills in MS office including Projects, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Word.
• Deep knowledge of Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC), O&M and Projects with a major oil company / international exposure.
• Solid background in oil and gas industry and strong delivery focus.
• Hands-on experience in Project Valuation; Bid preparation, Contract negotiation, Project monitoring, and evaluation
• Excellent client-facing and communication skills
• Membership of an Engineering professional body.
