Micron has large SSD development groups around the globe focused on SSD Product Development and Validation. We are looking for a candidate to lead the SSD Analytics team in the Validation Architecture organization. This team is responsible for:

  • the integrity and cleanliness of our SSD data,
  • the architectural definition of analytic SSD data collection procedures,
  • the deployment of SSD data collection procedures to all SSD validation sites world-wide,
  • the management of the DART data (DART is Micron's internal test bed SSDs in real-world use),
  • the creation and publication of SSD analytic reports,
  • automated reporting and alerting of data trends that are outside design parameters and/or indicate SSD quality issue
  • identifying potential machine learning opportunities that can be applied to SSD analytic decision making
  • report status, insights, and roadmap plans to senior management
  • work with internal teams to efficiently collect and ingest field telemetry data from Micron's Tier1 SSD customers
  • Work directly with IT to plan and support Micron's Insider program (DART)


The successful candidate will lead this team, set direction for the team, create roadmaps of analytic initiatives, provide guidance to data understanding, consider new test methodologies to enhance Micron's SSD quality, develop out-of-the-box tests based on data insights to be used globally in all validation teams, and work with other SSD and IT teams to build infrastructure.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
General Responsibilities:

  • Identify and define new ways to test Micron's SSDs to achieve "Best-In-Class" quality
  • Prototype development of proposed analytic, machine learning frameworks and/or solutions
  • Recommend testing improvements and/or enhancements based on analytic insights
  • Create and set direction for the analytics team
  • Constantly monitor analytics infrastructure for data flow and integrity
  • Ownership of Micron's world-wide SSD analytic databases
  • Point of contact for IT Insiders Program
  • Collaboration with Microns SSD engineering teams to develop and improve SSD logging and telemetry initiatives
  • Provide technical support (e.g., logging, telemetry) to internal or external customers


Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in SSD, DRAM, and NAND technology
  • Deep understanding/experience in the 3 areas of SSD, DRAM and NAND operation/design is highly desired as we collect analytics in these 3 areas for decision making
  • Understanding of basic coding principles is required; ability to code on Python is required; coding in C/C++ is a plus but not required
  • Knowledge of how to execute basic SQL queries is required
  • Highly effective, strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to work across teams in different geographies
  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering related field or equivalent experience
  • Understanding of Agile and test-driven development
  • Competent with tools: git, Jira, Confluence, BitBucket, Linux, Microsoft Windows
  • Knowledge or experience with Linux and Windows system configuration
  • Adaptable to a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment with dynamic demands
