Throughput Engineer

Our diverse team of Manufacturing Engineers play a crucial role in transforming our facilities through implementing the adoption of ground-breaking technologies. From raw sheet metal to final assembly, this team is reinventing the tools and processes that will enable GM to deliver on our promise to create an all-electric future.
The Throughput Engineer in the Stamping (Die Center) organization will be coordinating and supporting engineer who has responsibility of throughput which correlate with die engineering, execution and production Launch. Throughput engineer will visit and communicate often with all the stamping plants to investigate and analyze die related throughput issues. This engineer should investigate product shape and/or structures that can be potentially reduction issues of production and communicate with Product Interface engineer to be developed better Product features based on experience and knowledge. Work is performed in a centralized die center activity where the highest level of creativity and initiative is exercised as well as the highest level of independent judgment
Other responsibilities will include:
- Increase the focus and engagement of Die Center around Throughput improvement
- Visit often each stamping plant to get detail issue of throughput and investigate potential solution through communication with plant personell
- Analyze downtime data to identify and root cause systemic Throughput issues by commodity
- Identify opportunities and improve product & MR Criteria affecting Throughput
- Improve design and build standards that drive deviations from max ICR
- Identify opportunities and improve press equipment issues affecting Throughput
- Collaborate frequently with Stamping Architects, Die Engineering, Die Execution and Stamping plant teams on Throughput issues
- Maintain a tracking list of initiatives and open issues driving issues to closure.
- Conduct 90-day post SORP performance reviews of new programs
- Work with teams to analyze and determine the optimum PM frequencies that provide best plant performance by commodity.
