Systems Engineer - Battery Applications
Description
GM's Global Product Development Team is pursuing Battery Systems Engineers who will focus on applying GM's battery technology to a wide variety of new and innovative applications. The Battery Systems Engineer will be responsible for gathering and understanding application requirements, analyzing, and specifying energy storage solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Synthesize energy storage system designs based on customer requirements
- Execute analyses of potential designs, including electrical capability, battery life, thermal, isolation/creepage and clearance, etc.
- Develop system, component, and sub-component specifications for the various elements of energy storage systems including functional, performance, safety, and compliance requirements.
- Support the development of an efficient energy storage solution strategy - including batteries, controls, and associated hardware.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to evaluate product technical solutions to ensure efficient, safe, and reliable designs.
- Work cross-functionally to curate efficient technologies/solutions/components for innovative product design.
- Collaborate in a team environment and/or take charge of opportunities to develop optimal solutions for customers and development programs.
Additional Description
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical, chemical, mechanical, or other relevant engineering field required.
- 5+ years of product development experience in battery and/or high voltage electrical systems
- Demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills required to effectively work with others in group situations.
- Demonstrated high level of agility and desire to work in a complex and evolving environment and an innovation mindset.
- Highly proficient in oral and written communication skills
- Team player attitude internally and externally.
- Willing to travel 10-15% of the time.
Desired Skills:
- Master's in engineering or business administration desired
- Familiarity with multi-physics modeling and CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) techniques desired
