The Opportunity

Webroot is seeking a Senior Software Engineering Manager to support our Mobile Security Application teams.

In this role, you will be instrumental in growing the teams, guiding the development approach, and communicating strategy and results to the broader organization. The position is a player-coach role, you'll be writing code, and leading the team by example.

As a leader in this part of the organization, strong technical leadership and a solid background in software development is a must, so that you're able to challenge and grow our experienced engineers. Your primary responsibility is to the people on your team: ensuring that the members are growing as engineers, doing valuable work and generally having a great time at Webroot.

The team strives to achieve fast project turnaround. Projects grow and from ideation to proof-of-concept very quickly, so the candidate should be prepared to work in a brisk-paced development environment. The candidate's success on the team depends chiefly on their drive to understand, their desire to learn, and their ability to convert ideas into practical architecture and production technology.

Role Expectations:
• Experience developing people and teams through coaching, mentoring, and feedback• 5+ years building mobile native applications and server backends must have substantial Android experience.• 2+ years of manager-level experience leading Android, iOS or mobile web teams• Exceptional coding skills in one or more of the following: Java, Kotlin, Swift, Objective-C, C#• Solid understanding of the mobile ecosystem from reporting to 3rd party libraries and services• Knowledgeable and passionate about web and mobile development technologies• Advocate and advance modern software development practices in the team's (CI/CD, test automation etc)• Grow the technical expertise of your teams on system performance, platform compatibility and maintainability• Help develop and evangelize great engineering• Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving and communication skills• Strong understanding of software development process/Agile• Full-stack capabilities and have experience designing with restful APIs
