Positions in this function are involved in monitoring, evaluating, and maintaining systems and procedures to safeguard internal information systems, networks, databases, and Web-based security. Conduct vulnerability assessments and monitor systems, network, databases and Web for potential system breaches. Respond to alerts from information security tools. Report, investigate, and resolve security incidents. Recommend and implement changes to enhance systems security and prevent unauthorized access. Research security trends, new methods, and techniques used in unauthorized access of data in order to preemptively eliminate the possibility of system breach. May oversee internal or external systems security (i.e., cloud services). Ensure that customers and users have the right access to the right systems at the right times.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate Project Management fundamentals, with ability to coordinate and lead numerous cross-functional NSIS-wide team leadership and instructional meetings covering key operational and functional areas including Change Management, Metrics Reporting, and team coordination sessions
  • Demonstrate Overall understanding of ITSM Strategy and Operations with deeper knowledge and ability to lead others in the area of Incident and Change Management disciplines. Work across teams to refine Adjustable Down Time Minutes (ADTM) reporting within incidents, reduce false assignment, and remedy incorrect attribution
  • Serve in a Governance role among NSIS Teams. Lead team members to compliance using data and policy to enforce perspectives
  • Support and enforce NSIS team direction for compliance to corporate and industry information standards
  • Recognize and challenge risks presented by non-compliant planning to avoid execution impacts
  • Oversee NSIS change approval meetings, follow-up to provide oversight approvals
  • Lead Incident and Problem Review sessions to ensure accuracy and committed ownership
  • Identify change work that will contribute to infrastructure stability
  • Identify and drive to mitigation of operational risks presented by policy gaps in change activity
  • Recognize and flag security risks related to proposed change activity
  • Serve in a team lead capacity, ensuring the formulation and implementation of procedures and systems are compliant to NSIS policies
  • Monitors Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure their practices reflect current standards to maintain compliance within their respective spheres
  • Propose, review, and approve proposed revisions to change management procedures
  • Serves as the authoritative SME, collaborate, and offer guidance and direction to NSIS Team members in the area of Information Security engineering
  • Mentor and coach team members and other individuals, providing guidance and expertise, promoting continued integration of technological advances to further enhance compliance and stability

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of working knowledge of ITSM Fundamentals regarding Change Management, Incident Management, and Problem Management Disciplines
  • 3+ years of experience as a SME on Information Security concerns related to ITSM Disciplines
  • Ability to coordinate and lead large teams in regular Stand-up and staff meetings. (Offshore interaction)
  • Ability to influence outcomes based on standards, policies, and requirements
  • Ability to state fact-based perspectives assertively and concisely. (Could be preso, sharing data sources, or docs)


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Higher Education
  • 7+ years of working knowledge of ITSM Fundamentals regarding Change Management, Incident Management, and Problem Management Disciplines
  • ITSM experience in the healthcare industry
  • Inventory Management experience
  • Offshore team interaction
  • Ability to manage Microsoft Team channels

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $82,100 to $146,900. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $90,500 to $161,600. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
