Sr. Engineer - Battery Systems

Role Summary
Magna New Mobility Team is seeking a highly motivated Senior Battery Systems Engineer to join the Advanced Product Development group in Troy, Michigan. Must be a passionate all-rounder equally capable of developing and integrating new software controls solutions within battery and charging systems.
The ideal candidate should be comfortable working with minimal supervision to meet defined program objectives and milestones in an environment where they will be given the freedom to innovate, explore new methods and solutions. Magna New Mobility offers an agile engineering and development community; one in which a candidate will be expected to bring a high level of energy and enthusiasm.
Key Responsibilities
- Review customer requirements and derive electrical, mechanical, thermal and performance requirements for battery packs.
- Define and maintain pack level requirements for battery controls, internal mechanical, electrical components, battery cells, and thermal performance.
- Support battery plant end-of-line development and conduct testing as necessary to confirm system performance
- Facilitate the execution of FMEAs and owner of the Systems FMEA
- Owns and facilitates creation of System Architecture Diagram and functional model, P-Diagram
- Define battery test plans to validate all requirements and functional performance
- Lead design trade-offs between thermal, packaging, NVH, and hardware/software solutions
- Support all quality documents required for manufacturing builds, PPAP, shipping, labeling, test requirements, etc along with issue resolution 8D's
- Conduct safety checkout (SCO) and perform Systems testing at every hardware and software release as necessary
- Provide feedback of lessons learned and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Keep a tab on future trends in electronics such as smart BDU design, wireless CSC architectures etc.
Key Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 5+ years of electric vehicle Battery design and release, systems engineering, product design, product testing, product launch and battery assembly experiences
