Software Engineer
Description
This is a Hybrid position within our IT Organization. The role will allow employees to work offsite but will also require onsite work based on business needs. The selected candidate will be expected to commute to the innovation center to which they are assigned as their primary GM facility. Relocation may be provided.

As a software engineer, you will be involved with some of the emerging technologies (Akka, IoT, MQTT, Kafka/Pulsar, REST, gRPC, Java, Python, ReactJS and S3) for capturing and analyzing data, collected from plant floor devices, near real-time and at rest.
Job Description:
The software engineer is responsible and accountable for the quality and cohesion of solution architecture components within an assigned domain and their conformance to approved GM IT standards and alignment with the future state enterprise and domain architectural goals. This includes both hands-on development of IT technology solution architectures as well as management of various architectural initiatives.
As a member of our development team, you will contribute to:
- The full stack technology solution and drive the technical execution
- You will work to solve difficult challenges in software engineering as the scale and suite of our applications grow
- You will work with key stakeholders in product management and manufacturing system teams to define strategy and requirements
- You will contribute to cross functional development of new technology from design to deployment
- You will collaborate within your own team as well as other IT teams
Additional Description
Responsibilities Include:
- You will be responsible for requirement analysis, design, implementing and testing software solutions to solve some of the most advanced technical challenges facing the industry.
- You should be somebody who enjoys working on complex system software, is very customer-centric, understands the big picture and feels strongly not only about building good software but about making that software achieve its goals.
Basic Qualifications:
- 4+ years in software development using Java, Python, or related
- Experience with SQL databases like PostgreSQL
- Experience working with modern open-source tools like Angular, Springboot is a plus
- Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures and algorithm design, and complexity analysis
