The Red Hat Business Unit is looking for a Software Engineer to join us in Boston, MA. In this role, you will develop software for Red Hat Research and Development's (RnD)' OpenStack provisioning tool by coding, testing, debugging, and documenting both existing and upcoming software feature sets. You'll develop automation software with the use of all phases of the software development life cycle and agile methodologies.
What you will do

• Develop user interfaces as well as the backend of QuickLab for end-users to have a positive software experience, and track these works with Jira tracking system to document development processes
• Develop new software tools to minimize software errors on the client side and write scripts for new versions of software to be used directly by Quicklab's customers
• Write and perform tests on software developments before rolling out to production using Jenkins continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) to ensure best software delivery
• Collaborate with colleagues on system software performance under various conditions, including stresses and outages
• Attend regular agile meetings and report on systems health and performance, and cooperate with
• maintainers of the hardware system to optimize use of disk, network, CPUs, and memory
• Collect data from software APIs to analyze and optimize the systems, and determine whether the hardware is overused to inform hardware maintainer about the state of the systems
• Publish a message every time the system undergoes stresses and outages so customers can plan accordingly, and implement feature requests prioritized by stakeholders
• Collaborate on software projects using Git or similar version control software

What you will bring

• Master's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in computer science, computer engineering, or related field and 1+ year(s) of experience in the job offered or related role
• 1+ year(s) of experience with: AngularJS, React, TypeScript, JavaScript, unit testing with Jest, CSS/HTML, and NodeJS; Red Hat OpenStack Platform, Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, and Red Hat Ceph; installing Red Hat products on virtual machines in cloud environments; MariaDB, MySQL, or Postgres relational databases; Git and code collaboration; and agile and Scrum development
