Software Defined Vehicle SW Application Architect
Description
The Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) team supports the definition, design, and development of continuously improving mobility services. SDV is new vehicle intelligence platform that will underpin all our future innovations across a wide range of technological advancements, including EVs and expanded automated driving. This means that you can potentially put a fingerprint on the vehicles that drive down the road! This space is ripe with technical leadership opportunities for advanced technology development, as well as the ability to provide mentorship for new employees. You can flex your teamwork muscles as you will be tasked with working with several other areas of engineering, IT, and the business.
GM is searching for a high-performing individual to support SDV. As we expand our core software competency in our newly aligned organization, we are placing an increased value on the SW Application Architect responsibilities.
Software Application Architect is responsible for defining and supporting the building of desirable, feasible, viable, and sustainable APPs that meet customer needs over the product-market lifecycle. The Architect is driven by a customer centric mindset and platform oriented to utilize design thinking to guide their decisions. Responsible for working closely with Software Development teams, to help establish technology road maps to execute on their top business applications. This individual will be a very well rounded Application Architect that has a broad background of understanding of technologies and can learn new technologies/off the box tools quickly to help tackle embedded problems, develop Application design and architecture.
This role will provide leadership in these areas across the SDV and GM organization in both a strategic and tactical manor.
Responsibilities Include but not limited:
- Design Application architecture that is flexible and robust for the future of a Vehicle Software Platform; including modeling, software tools, and automated generation of software artifacts to support the platform
- Lead the strategy and development of the Application Software architecture
- Lead design reviews with specialists within the company, as well as industry professionals
- Architect, design and develop software in a SDV toolchain
- Manage change requests in the system and with the architecture community to implement your changes into actions
- Communicate information to and from internal and external customer organizations
- Stay abreast of new technology
- Collaborate with engineering, architect community, and business teams in recommending new technologies to ensure innovation, quality, and productivity, and help create technology roadmap
- Coach the SW Developer scrum team in executing the development deliverables
- Be the primary GM engineer to collaborate with the architecture team within SDV and GM business
Additional Description
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical degree
- Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience
- Experience in application development
- Outstanding interpersonal and relationship leadership skills to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organization as needed
- Emerging partnership and teamwork skills and ability to learn from and share knowledge with co-workers in a fast-paced environment
- High level of integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity, take initiative/self-directed
- Consistently demonstrates innovative thinking that is customer-centric
- Appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with business partners to meet mutual goals
- Exceptional collaboration and teamwork; demonstrated ability for working through others and influencing without direct authority
Preferred Experience:
- Master's degree in a related technical field
- Experience with android and java development
- Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) certification
- Experience with GIT/source code management, open source SW development/contributor
- Experience with network engineering, telecommunications, network development and testing
- Experience with edge, cloud, IoT technologies, virtualization technologies, containerization/container development, Android App development
