Belvedere Trading is a leading proprietary trading firm with offices in Chicago, New York, Boulder, and Singapore. Our traders work hard to provide liquidity to the market through their market-making activities and are the masters of a diverse set of commodities, interest rates, exchange-traded funds (ETF), and equity index options. From the beginning, we began iteratively investing in our proprietary technology and committing to building our systems from the ground up. Our trading models and software systems are continually re-engineered, optimized, and maintained to stay on top of the industry. We operate best within a team environment where we challenge each other to deliver value consistently and share in the success of the company.
We are currently seeking an experienced Trading Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a Senior Trading System Engineer, you will work alongside quant traders to continually improve our option trading systems. Our systems are primarily Java-based. Parts of the execution platform are written in C++ with FPGA components. You should be comfortable working in all parts of this tech stack. You will work in an environment with an automated daily release cycle and a focus on top-quality and scalable software development practices such as code reviews and automated testing.
What you'll do
- Partner with the Trading System Engineering team on key operational performance and scalability
- Full-cycle application development, network programming, and platform tuning
- Work with Network Engineering to improve performance and platform enhancements
- Apply a data-driven approach to system improvements
- Solve low-latency trading problems and optimization of performance-critical code
- Continuously contribute to the team’s performance architecture
- Create new features and help improve existing systems
What you'll need

- Ability to perform successfully in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- A desire to continuously learn and proactively improve processes
- Bachelor's or Master’s level degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a similar field

What We Do
In March of 2002, Belvedere Trading emerged as Chicago’s newest market maker, soon to join the ranks of the Windy City’s elite proprietary trading firms. Armed with printouts of Excel workbooks and a team of eager minds, Belvedere established their place in the SPX pit on the floor of the Chicago Board Options Exchange. From the beginning, we have iteratively invested in our proprietary technology and made a commitment to building our software systems from the ground up. Due to our ultramodern proprietary technology and risk management capabilities, Belvedere is able to quickly capitalize on inefficiencies in the marketplace. Our trading models and software systems are continually re-engineered, optimized, and maintained to stay on top of the industry. Building and nurturing a strong culture is one of Belvedere’s highest priorities, and we are always looking for the best and brightest talent to help us in our continued success.
Why Work With Us
