Job summary
The Red Hat Enterprise Data and Analytics team is looking for an experienced Senior Visualization Engineer to join us. In this role, you will support the Tableau Center of Excellence (CoE) and promote data visualization improvements across the team by focusing on our existing and new projects. You'll perform refinement and maintenance on our analytics assets based on best practices and ensure that they support insightful data storytelling. You'll need to have excellent analytical skills as you'll be resolving all data visualization deficiencies, improving data visualization practices, and creating data visualization process design strategies. As a Senior Visualization Engineer, you'll need to be able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment and be committed to contributing to Red Hat's operational success. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.
Primary job responsibilities

• Build and maintain highly visible, enterprise-wide Tableau dashboards
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to create stunning dashboards for insightful storytelling
• Work on new and existing business reports and dashboards from the perspective of enhancing charts as well as presentation of data
• Participate in projects as a data visualization expert to guide team members on the charts and data presentation strategy
• Collaborate with other engineers and stakeholders on ideation around how best to visualize quantitative and qualitative datasets
• Translate complex reports and dashboards into simple and understandable terms

Required skills

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field
• Overall 3+ years of experience in building impactful dashboards and infographics using Tableau
• Very good understanding of SQL for data messaging and preparation
• Comfortable with applying custom SQL within Tableau
• Commitment to continuous learning and growth in the data visualization space; record of visualization thought leadership is a plus
• Familiarity with working with a variety of data sources within Tableau
• Working experience with other operational and analytical reporting tools like SAP BusinessObjects (BOBJ), QlikView, Qlik Sense, etc.
• Excellent persuasive communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
• Prior experience working with HR, finance, sales or marketing organizations; internship within one of these organizations will also be considered
• Customer service-oriented; attention to and emphasis on quality

The following are considered a plus:

• Tableau or data visualization certification
• Data warehouse design theory knowledge
• Advanced SQL skills
