About the job
The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join us in Boston, MA. In this role, you will develop software prototypes that address the identified challenges and opportunities and inform Red Hat's technology strategy. You will research emerging technology trends related to enterprise software and identify portfolio challenges and opportunities for Red Hat.
What you will do

  • Collaborate closely with product engineering teams on transition software prototypes to services, product features, or offerings
  • Use the advanced multi-party computing techniques to build medical image processing capabilities that protect privacy across multiple sites
  • Contribute to the Red Hat OpenShift framework in Go and Python and build multi-party computing features into the ChRIS Research Integration Services platform (ChRIS), adding the capability to use those features to the ChRIS user interface (UI), working with user experience (UX) designers and front-end developers to ensure that those features are well designed and usable
  • Improve the stability and performance of the ChRIS application once ported to the Red Hat OpenShift platform
  • Lead developers and mentor interns in the development of the ChRIS medical image processing platform
  • Lead quantum computing work in Red Hat's CTO office, including design, development, and maturation of Openshift Operators to manage quantum workflows
  • Promote the combination of quantum computing and Openshift classical computing to both the scientific and computing communities
  • Design, develop, and test Openshift Operators for advanced disk mirroring
  • Lead transfer of mirroring and quantum technologies to business units when concepts have been proven and adopted


What you will bring

  • Master's degree, U.S. or foreign equivalent, in computer science, computer engineering, or related field with 6+ years of experience working in the job offered or in a related role or bachelor's degree, U.S. or foreign equivalent, in computer science, computer engineering, or related field with 8+ years of experience working in the job offered or in a related role
  • Must have 6+ years of experience with software engineering and software development life cycle, agile methodology, continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) and DevOps, and distributed version control system
  • Must have 3+ years of experience with Linux operating system, Linux cgroups, concurrency, filesystem, and resource management
  • Must have 2+ years of experience with distributed system, cluster computing, and container frameworks and creating and presenting complex technical subjects at industry conferences
  • Must have 1+ year(s) of experience with IBM Quantum Computing, Qiskit SDKs), and API; Go and Python programming languages; technical communications like writing technical blogs on complex technical subjects; machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI); cryptography, multi-party computation, information security, and data privacy; and distributed algorithms, design patterns, and data structures
  • Must have 6+ months of experience deploying workloads in popular cloud platforms like AWS, GKE, and Azure
