Partners with stakeholders and leads team efforts to build and maintain backend services and solutions to support user-facing products, downstream services, or infrastructure tools and platforms used across Uber.
About the Team:
As a Sr Software Engineer at Uber, you will architect highly-performant, reliable, applications used by millions of external customers every day. You will have a unique opportunity to work closely and partner with a growing Uber for Business team, to build world class Help Center and Support experiences for their product. Uber for Business has customers 25+ countries and 50% of those are Fortune 500. As part of this team, systems you build will be directly impacting these customers and their support experience. At Uber, we have a high bar for quality & efficiency - you will collaborate closely with Product Managers and Business Operations teams to build for scale, yet solution focussed on providing delightful customer experiences. The team is focussed on high business impact, where every product we ship is measured and tracked with cost savings and/or efficiency improvement. Minimum qualifications:

• PhD or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field OR 3-years full-time Software Engineering work experience, WHICH INCLUDES 2-years total technical software engineering experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Programming language (e.g. C, C++, Java, Python, or Go)

• Note the 2-years total of specialized software engineering experience may have been gained through education and full-time work experience, additional training, coursework, research, or similar (OR some combination of these). The years of specialized experience are not necessarily in addition to the years of Education & full-time work experience indicated.

Technical skills:
Preferred:

• Product engineering
• Scalability engineering
• Distributed systems
• Experience with relational databases and distributed storage systems (MySQL, Cassandra, Elasticsearch, Redis)
• Ability to work with ambiguous problem definitions.
• Strong collaboration skills and passion for learning new technologies
