Senior Software Engineer - Safety Platform
As an Safety Platform engineer, your focus is on the long-term systems, operations, and APIs of the Anti-Abuse team. Your customers will be other engineers and operators who will use your products to scale safety. Come for the interesting projects, stay for the important mission. Reports to the Safety Platform ManagerWhat you'll be doing
- Build our in-house, real-time, at-scale, abuse detection platform written in Python and Rust
- Expand our internal APIs to combat abusive content
- Maintain and scale out our infrastructure on Kubernetes using a metrics-based approach
- Empower our analysts by expanding our configuration language and building in guardrails
- Move quickly to respond to the moving target of abuse on Discord
What you should have
- Minimum of 6 years experience building scalable backend or real-time data systems
- Experience working on, and deploying, large-scale systems in Python, Rust, Go, or other similar language
- Familiarity with using metrics to make decisions
- Experience debugging a live production system
Bonus Points
- Experience with data warehouses like Druid, BigQuery, and Redshift
- Experience with real-time streaming data systems like Kafka or Pub-sub
- Experience with services on Kubernetes
- Experience with Python ASTs
- Prior experience working in the Anti-Abuse domain
- Ability to build client-side UI in React
- You have a strong moral compass that navigates and motivates you
