About The Role

Our software team is growing rapidly and we are looking for talented engineers to join our small, agile, world-class team. In this role you will help drive software development efforts to design and implement state of the art motion planning algorithms that will enable Digit to autonomously operate in real-world deployments with industry partners.


About The Work

  • Develop, deploy, and test planning algorithms for humanoid decision making, motion planning, locomotion, and navigation
  • Implement production-ready motion planning algorithms including but not limited to graph search, sampling-based search, trajectory optimization, linear-temporal logic, and decision making under uncertainty
  • Work with other teams in software (Perception, Estimation, and Controls) to solve complex cross functional problems

About You

  • MS or Ph.D. in robotics, computer science, or related field or have equivalent industry experience
  • 5+ years of experience developing and deploying motion planning algorithms on mobile or high degree-of-freedom robots
  • Expert in at-least one related technical area such as (but not limited to) graph-search (A*, D*, and extensions), sampling-based search (PRM, RRT*, ect), trajectory optimization (multiple shooting, direct collocation, DDP), linear temporal logic (LTL), and/or decision making under uncertainty (POMDP)
  • Strong software experience in modern C++ with a focus on testability, scalability, robustness, and performance
  • Mathematical fundamentals in geometry, linear algebra, probability theory, and numerical optimization

Bonus Points

  • Experience developing motion planning algorithms for legged robots
  • Experience developing motion planning algorithms for safety critical applications
  • Experience working with noisy and/or incomplete perception data
  • Experience with machine learning/data-driven approaches in motion planning
  • Publications in your field (RSS, ICRA, IROS preferred)
