Your Opportunity

The Incubator builds exciting new products for New Relic, releases those products to market and maintains those products in generally available form until the products are considered successful. This is a very high paced group and has outsized impact on the company's performance.

The Incubator's ETL team is building a powerful new tool and engine in open source designed to not only make New Relic more flexible and easier to use but to make New Relic as functional as data lake technologies.

As a senior full stack engineer (back end focused), you'll help drive design and implementation of the control plane for customer ETL clusters. You'll drive the implementation of secure, encrypted network communications between customer site and the cloud. And you'll help us integrate ETL to New Relic's core scalability mechanisms that manage high availability and load across public cloud environments!

What You'll Do

• Design, implement, monitor and scale services that control data transmission, encryption, and transformation. You'll also drive command and control capabilities that allow customers a single pane of control over large ETL clusters in the cloud and on prem.
• Meet and confer with product leadership (up to and including our CEO) as well as with customer engineers, helping gather feedback and tune our implementation to achieve product market fit.
• Mentor engineers on the team and across New Relic

Your Qualifications

Must-have:

• 5+ years building & shipping production software
• Expertise in a backend development language such as: Java, Ruby, Golang, Python or C#
• Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure and best practices surrounding private links, VPCs, Kubernetes, and more.
• Experience with web application development and a solid understanding of the HTTP lifecycle
• High level of emotional intelligence with collaboration and listening skills that encourage different perspectives and creative solutions

Nice-to-have:

• College degree with a focus on software engineering or equivalent experience
• Observability and monitoring experience
• Significant duration working as a team leader, driving key deliverables and milestones all the way to market
• Extensive startup experience a plus
