The CRM Database Sustaining Engineering Team deploys and manages some of the largest and most trusted databases in the world. Our customers rely on us to keep their data safe and highly available. We are looking for a Senior Manager/Director to help take it to the next level of innovation to keep up with the fast paced demands of scaling and operating our database services in Salesforce in Public Cloud. You'll collaborate with product owners, lead top-notch software engineers and world-class database engineers to design and implement our next generation database infrastructure.

We are Salesforce Engineering

Are you a database expert, or passionate about designing database technology production engineering that supports relentless growth and innovation? Do you take pride in delivering high quality mission critical enterprise products? Join the team that is supporting the database of the cloud. We are looking for an experienced manager to lead the database sustaining engineering team at Salesforce.

Candidates must have a strong database background and public cloud background to work with a team that is responsible for architecting, developing and testing the next generation of RDBMS. You will lead and grow a team of world class, highly motivated software engineers and database experts. Your team will need to deliver a highly complex support model with the scalability and performance needed to match the staggering growth of our service.

You will need familiarity with database internals, distributed systems, high availability, replication, scalability and performance. You must have exceptional verbal and written communication skills, and have a track record of hiring top performers and building a highly collaborative team to deliver successful enterprise products.

Responsibilities:

  • Recruiting top talents.
  • Develop and grow talent in the team.
  • Mentoring and coaching a team of software engineers with a range of levels of industry experience
  • Motivate and align team members with business and project goals.
  • Be the scrum master and project manager, help the team organize and prioritize.
  • Work with Product Owners to define deliverables, priority and staffing needs.
  • Develop a roadmap and milestones and help the team execute to plan.
  • Constantly improving culture, communications, and process.
  • Take initiative to challenge and improve the status quo.
  • Demonstrate problem solving and technical innovation through "rolling-up sleeves" and "getting hands dirty"


Qualifications:

  • BS or higher degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 10+ years hands on individual contributor in system or database engineering.
  • 5+ years management experience of at least 10 engineers working on a customer facing enterprise product, including demonstrable experience hiring and expanding high performing engineering teams
  • Technical expertise with distributed systems, database replication, transaction management, high availability, highly concurrent and scalable enterprise products.
  • Proven track record of delivering and supporting large scale enterprise products and services
  • Experience in leading teams that are responsible for production engineering in public cloud world
  • Innovator with good ideas, strong problem solving, communication skills and a results oriented attitude.
  • Ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced, dynamic agile team environment.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading team that are responsible for SQL and/or NoSQL datastores e.g., Postgresql, MySQL and etc in production environment at internet scale
  • Experience leading teams that deal with Public cloud engineering on GCP, AWS, Alibaba and/or Azure platforms
  • Experience with Agile software development methodologies and short release cycles
  • Experience owning and operating multiple instances of mission-critical infrastructure services including, monitoring, alerting, logging, and reporting applications
