This position is responsible for....

The Senior Manager, Software Development is responsible for managing the software engineering team. S/he will be primarily responsible for management of software engineers, user interface designers, and DevOps. S/he will also be responsible for Agile development of core commercial applications and architecture. This includes a hands-on working knowledge of the VISION platform, in the clinic, from a user's perspective. The Senior Manager, Software Development is expected to have a deep understanding of the VISION technical architecture and workflow and is actively engaged in the user feedback loop.

Your day will be very busy... you will:

  • Manages an engineering team in an AGILE environment leveraging JIRA and detailed business requirements.
  • Manages the development team to deliver software features and architecture. Responsible for the alignment of product managers, user feedback, and user experience in the VISION applications.
  • Leverages AGILE development methodology and SCRUM for the BREG platforms.
  • Conducts regular site visits to customers using the BREG platforms.
  • Reads and reviews all epics and stories for a solid understanding of development goals.
  • Supports the development of detailed stories and reviews the documentation and requirements from design and development meetings. Leverages JIRA to remain aligned with the development stories and support the product development process.
  • Creates and maintains application development/design documentation.
  • Responds to security assessments for the platform, required documentation, and communication with customer representatives requiring feedback and insight into the platform.


  • Works with user experience and user interface designers to detail workflows, stories, and requirements.
  • Ascertains the talent level of each position on the team and on-boards the appropriate talent for each position. Ongoing review of code quality, team communication, and team dynamics are critical for the success of the enterprise applications and to advance the strategic commercial software platforms.
  • Management responsibilities include the selection, development, performance management and continuous recalibration of staff; ensures appropriate staffing levels and resource allocation; works with staff to identify work goals and create individual development plans. Evaluates training programs to ensure content meets staff needs; performs administrative tasks associated with timekeeping, pay, performance, policy administration and other matters related to employment.



What your background will be:

  • A bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, or other related field of study and 7+ years relevant experience to include software engineering, story documentation, and development leadership.
  • Required experience includes creating and maintaining stories in JIRA.
  • Computer proficient to include MS project, web browser/internet search, MS Outlook, MS Office to include Advanced Excel skills and the ability to produce presentation-ready slides in PowerPoint. Technical competence includes the ability to learn new software and systems.
  • Preferred experienced includes application development, software lifecycle management.
  • Proficiency in AGILE and SCRUM required.
  • Experience with AWS is required.
