Shift5 is seeking a highly skilled Senior Kubernetes Engineer who can efficiently implement design patterns for distributed systems to join our growing team. In this role, you’ll design, build, and improve the infrastructure on which Shift5’s SaaS products are deployed. This includes creating resources in cloud environments as well on-prem.

In this role you will be expected to:

  • Design, build and maintain large scale, secure Kubernetes infrastructure
  • Help instantiate applications and databases within a containerized infrastructure
  • Support timely delivery of solutions to meet (or exceed) product delivery needs
  • Effectively collaborate and manage expectations with engineering colleagues, senior leaders and external stakeholders
  • Develop great engineering and organizational practices with respect to cluster security as well as system documentation
  • Improve system health, monitoring and alerting apparatus
  • Develop and upskill other engineers with limited exposure to container orchestration
  • Contribute to a healthy and collaborative engineering culture

We’re looking for someone who is/has:

  • 4+ years of experience working on Kubernetes platforms
  • Proficient with configuring and managing production Kubernetes clusters in both cloud hosted as well as on-prem environments
  • Experience with Kubernetes packaging/templating tools (Skaffold, Kustomize, Helm)
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible, Cloudformation)
  • Experience with container networking and security
  • Experience with Unix/Linux-OS Internals and administration
  • Well versed in at least one of the following languages: C++, Go, or Python
  • U.S Citizenship
  • The ability to obtain or hold a US Government Security Clearance
