This is a hybrid-based position and will require time in office as needed. This position is an Atlanta based position.
Cox Communications, Inc. is looking for a Senior JEE Software Engineer that is responsible for leading implementation of multiple systems across middleware and influencing the technical vision behind the platform. The candidate should have deep software development experience with Java, system and design expertise, leadership background and strong written and verbal communication skills.
The position will enhance the current middleware platform, which supports hundreds of thousands of middleware transactions a day. The position will require a candidate to perform development on those components using JAVA17 and Spring Framework, write and manage test cases in JUNIT, task developers, participate in Agile planning sessions, perform code reviews, collaborate and get alignment among internal teams, support the release packages in QA and production and work with management on timelines, quality and deliverables. The position will be primarily focused on technical development and delivery but will also include technical guidance of teams and contractors.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Duties:

  • Provide technical direction and guidance to a team of developers through full SDLC lifecycle
  • End-to-End Systems development, project / operations management and support
  • Design, development and support for operations of high volume, mission critical systems - monitoring, troubleshooting, and timely resolution of system issues; proactively identifying possible issues / bottlenecks and put measures accordingly in place to ensure system availability and to optimize performance
  • Design REST Interfaces and J2EE components to enhance middleware systems
  • Develop components using SpringBoot, Spring Framework and JAVA17
  • Perform design and code reviews
  • Work with management around project milestones
  • Support operations and development teams by providing advanced technical analysis, troubleshooting and triage as needed


Qualifications
Minimum:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 4 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 2 years' experience; a Ph.D. and up to 1 year of experience; or 16 years' experience in a related field.
  • 3+ years of JEE design experience.
  • 1+ years of experience developing Cloud-native platforms using SpringBoot and Spring Framework
  • Demonstrable knowledge of computer science fundamentals, including but not limited to algorithms, data structures, compilers, operating systems and computer organization
  • Demonstrable knowledge of advanced computer science topics such as distributed systems theory and algorithms, cryptography, data science, systems engineering and other topics
  • Advanced knowledge of object-oriented design and development including design patterns
  • Experience in relational database technologies and familiarity with DB design
  • Experience in developing scalable service-oriented solutions
  • Understanding of transaction and information systems, message brokers and enterprise integration patterns
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage work to critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working in all aspects of SDLC management
  • Strong working knowledge of modern software development languages including Enterprise Java
  • Ability to cope with uncertainty and loosely/under-defined requirements


Preferred:

  • 2+ years of experience designing REST Interfaces and JEE components to enhance middleware
  • Strong knowledge of JEE, JAX- RS, Object Oriented Design Patterns, Development Methodologies (Iterative, Agile)
  • Experience with distributed source control systems such as git, github or bitbucket
  • Previous experience in providing technical direction to team of developers and production support
  • Previous experience building large volume, mission critical enterprise applications
  • Previous experience working in a collaborative environment
  • Preferred experience in middleware development
  • Excellent communication skills, possessing the ability to communicate to technical developers, QA and Operations support engineers and technical and nontechnical management
  • Organization skills to track roles and responsibilities and report on individual and team status
  • Previous experience in telecommunications field
