As a Senior FEA Engineer at Donaldson Company, you will not only play a part in creating products that impact lives, but also provide value and direction for the filtration industry. You will be responsible for large scale projects that help us work towards out aggressive company growth goals. Donaldson possesses great industry breadth and diversity of products, which affords great flexibility in growing your career as you gain engineering experience. In this role you will work on challenging filtration product simulation and technology problems from our research and development division that support the global organization.

Responsibilities:

• Demonstrating innovation and knowledge generation though simulation and data analysis utilizing a variety of tools and resources available in a technology driven company
• Using mechanical/computational/statistical aptitude and problem-solving skills to advance products and technologies
• Leading projects with the goal of advancing fundamental understanding of usage of materials in filtration applications and improving predictability of static, dynamic, fracture, and fatigue simulations.
• Coordinating test programs to ensure product simulations and designs are meeting expectations
• Provide design guidance and input on current products and future technologies and products
• Identifying new opportunities for technology in the marketplace
• Recognizing customer input and translating into high quality results that support modeling first strategy.
• Identifying new opportunities for technology in the marketplace and aide in growing organization's IP portfolio.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master's level or higher engineering degree in a STEM field or equivalent, from an accredited university
• 3 plus years of related engineering experience.
• Strong experience in ANSYS and/or COMSOL and/or Abaqus with a willingness to learn.
• Experience with modeling nonlinear and composite materials, and plasticity
• Good verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Detail oriented mindset
• Willingness to learn and to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed and cross-disciplinary team.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

• This position requires US permanent residence or citizenship.
• This position has an opportunity to have a Hybrid work schedule

Preferred Qualifications:

Technical knowledge and experiences:

• Sound knowledge of linear algebra and its application in structural dynamic computations
• Experience in mechanical material testing.
• Familiarity with physics simulation and simulation workflows, and leveraging application APIs.
• Experience in designing and coordinating experiments and lab measurements, and FEA results correlation.
• General purpose programming skills (python or java preferred) and understanding of data structures.
• Numerical modeling at various length scales and experience with multidisciplinary simulations a plus.
