About the Role
As a Senior Engineering Manager at Uber, you will be leading a group of engineers and engineering managers collaborating with product managers, data scientists and other engineering teams to build Identity solutions for Enterprise customers. Additionally, you will own the identity directory services that back this solution and the customer data platform used by almost all services at Uber.
What the Candidate Will Do:
• Lead, manage and grow a team of customer-focused software managers and engineers• Architecture, Design and Implement Enterprise Identity Access Management systems to address the needs of Customers• Architecture, Design and Implement the Identity directory services and customer data platform systems.• Build product features across mobile & web applications, as well as infrastructure services and components for enterprise authentication• Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of your team, and continuously improve software engineering practices• Bring a innovate on behalf of customers mindset, implement cutting-edge technologies, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, and self-organization• Hire top performing engineering talent and maintaining our commitment to diversity and inclusion• Collaborate with and across teams to design, build, and ship extraordinary experiences for our customers• Provide strong technical leadership in security domain with expertise in authentication, authorization, cryptography and application security• Collaborate with multiple product and engineering teams, as well as external partnerships for integration into our platform• Ensure customer security, privacy and seamless user experience for each product• Ensure the systems we build are highly reliable and scalable• Ensure that identified security issues are prioritized and addressed correctly in an appropriate time frame
Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum 5 years of experience leading software engineering organization (manager of managers), designing and building large-scale distributed systems• Strong servant-leadership management style geared towards supporting, mentoring and growing engineers on the team• Excellent documentation, communication and collaboration skills• Bachelor's degree or higher in an engineering field (e.g., Computer Science, Computer Engineering, etc.)• Experience with multiple programming languages (Go, C++, Java, Python etc.) and data stores (MySQL, Cassandra, Redis, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working with multi-functional, globally distributed teams to coordinate work and deliver solutions that span multiple teams.• Expertise in two or more domains across Security, Privacy, Cryptography, Authentication, Authorization, Risk• Experience in customer authentication domain with technical hands-on experience in OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML, SSO, X.509 and other standard authentication protocols• Experience with large-scale, distributed systems, including SQL/NoSQL storage, transactional updates, asynchronous processing with message queues like Kafka, logging, system monitoring, and performance tuning.
