American Express Enterprise Cloud platform (eCP) provides a platform that enables business applications to have Faster Time-to-Market for American Express.

eCP offers dynamic rapid code-to-development models and services such as Platform-as-a-Service, Infrastructure-as-a-Service, DB-as-a-Service, Analytics-as-a-Service, Messaging-as-a-Service, CICD Pipelines, etc. for application developers in a hybrid cloud environment. eCP enables Application developers to write modern scalable cloud native applications.

As a Senior Engineer in the American Express Cloud Solutions Engineering team, you will be part of Cloud migration and migration tool development projects whilst playing a key role in the enablement of solutions that power cloud native application patterns across American Express Technologies. You will partner closely with applications teams across the company to understand business critical, customer facing capabilities and provide first class cloud solutions that seek to address these challenges in a scalable, reusable manner.

Platform Engineering and Development

• Contribute to Designing and Building Hybrid Cloud Platform components.

• Contribute in POC and testing of new technologies.
• Product documentation and bug fixes.
• Function as member of an agile team by contributing to software builds through consistent development practices (tools, common components, and documentation)
• Participate in code reviews and automated testing
• Debug basic software components and identify code defects for remediation

• Enable the deployment, support, and monitoring of software across test, integration, and production environments
• Automate deployments in test or production environments

• Contribute to several large projects in the hybrid cloud owning all technical aspects of software development, focused cloud platform enablement.

Education & Experience:

• 9 + years of software development experience in a professional environment and/or comparable experience such as:
• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or other technical discipline, or equivalent work experience
• Strong development experience in any one of the programming languages - Java, JavaScript, Python, Go
• Knowledge of modern datastores like Redis, Couchbase, Cassandra & PostgreSQL

• Experience in system design of several high availability and low latency applications.
• Knowledge in cloud native application patterns and tools, micro services architectures, application migrations to any cloud platform
• Experience of Ansible, Ruby/ Python and shell scripting.
• Experience with Container & Orchestration Technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes/ OpenShift, Envoy and control plane
• Exposure and fair understanding of Service Mesh products/frameworks like Envoy/ Istio.

• Fair understanding of Kubernetes operator, multi container.
• 2+ years of Linux Experience.
• Understanding or exposure of Logging and Monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Splunk, ELK, Dynatrace, or AppDynamics.
