As our Senior Backend / API Engineer (d/f/m) your responsibilities will include:
- Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend APIs and services that power core business functionality across our platform
- Leading the conceptualization and integration of APIs across multiple domains, ensuring consistency, performance, and long-term maintainability
- Driving continuous improvement of our engineering processes, helping the team deliver quickly and at a high standard
- Evaluating and adopting new technologies, bringing pragmatic innovation to the platform where it adds value
- Writing modular, reliable, and testable code, and uphold high standards of code quality, readability, and architecture
- Partnering closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ship impactful features and improvements
- Mentoring junior engineers by sharing your knowledge and guiding them toward best practices in backend and API development
What you will need to succeed in this role:
- resilience and the ability to take ownership and go the extra mile when needed
- 3+ years of experience in in modern JavaScript (ES2015+) environments, TypeScript is a plus
- passion about API design and backend architecture, and enjoy building services that scale
- strong opinions and experience with code quality, modular architecture, and modern engineering standards
- a solid understanding of distributed systems and experience building high-availability backend applications
- being familiar with NoSQL databases, message queues (e.g. RabbitMQ, Kafka), and scalable infrastructure patterns
- being comfortable evaluating trade-offs and making architectural decisions that serve the long-term goals of the platform
- a growth mindset and the desire to learn new technologies, and contribute to a high-performance engineering culture
