Position Summary

The Security/Systems Engineer is part of a team that is responsible for prevention of Cyber Security Incidents by real time monitoring, detection and analysis of potential intrusions in a multi-platform environment. This includes using troubleshooting tools to analyze and respond to cyber threats, writing scripts to aid in quick analysis and response, responding to security events and maintaining and monitoring general systems. The position operates and tunes security supporting tools, provides requirements for new security tools and creates use cases for monitoring. In addition, the position creates and follows up on incident reports, creates daily, weekly and monthly reporting metrics and manages vendor relationships as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform all responsibilities in accordance EnableComp policies, compliance, regulatory and Information Protection requirements.
  • Assist with the development of processes and procedures to improve incident response times, analysis of incidents, and overall Systems and Security functions.
  • Communicate with other business units and leaders.
  • Monitor security vulnerabilities by analyzing a variety of network and host-based security appliance logs and determining the correct remediation actions and escalation paths for each incident.
  • Provide information regarding intrusion events, security incidents, and other threat indications and warning information to teams and leadership.
  • Utilizes knowledge of security incident history and organizational response to assists with development of processes and procedures to improve security operations functions, including incident response times and analysis of incidents.
  • Create use cases for Security monitoring. Engage with and/or manage vendors as needed.
  • Keep current on the current threat landscape and upcoming trends in security.
  • Installation and maintenance of Enterprise Servers and Server Security
  • Analyzing and implementing server operating systems
  • Working with Microsoft/Linux and other industry-based technologies in a maintenance/process improvement capacity
  • Implementing and monitoring of management software
  • Perform and assist in performing of the configuration, staging, installation and ongoing support of client server environments
  • Establish and document best-practice procedures in areas of expertise
  • Provide technical assistance to any other departments or divisions of the company as needed
  • Disaster Recovery and Incident Response Planning
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Business or equivalent work or educational experience required. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years working with SIEM tools required, including performing deployment and configuration, and maintaining operations and content development.
  • Minimum of 2 years working with operational information security disciplines and cyber-security operations required (e.g. incident response, security infrastructure management or monitoring services).
  • Deep understanding of Cyber Security Operations (monitoring, detection, incident response, forensics) required.
  • Solid system support scripting skills (e.g., Powershell, DOS) required.
  • Be available on an on-call basis to respond to pending issues or problems arising during non-business hours and provide support and response.
  • Effective problem solving and interpersonal skills required.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills required to effectively communicate and provide customer service required.
  • Full-time hours required, with additional hours as necessary.


Special Considerations and Prerequisites

  • Engineer, implement and monitor security measures for the protection of computer systems, networks and information.
  • Identify and define system security requirements.
  • Experience managing servers, particularly virtualized environments.
  • Ability to work well with team members to produce results.
  • Excellent communication skills, utilized to collaborate both within IT and across all functions of the company to drive IT security initiatives.
  • Excellent mentoring and coaching skills to assist in training staff on security directives.
  • Design computer security architecture and develop detailed cyber security designs.
  • Prepare and document standard operating procedures and protocols.
  • Problem solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
