Mechanical Products Team has an opportunity for a dynamic Energetics & Prolusion Technical Staff Team Lead. T he Technical Staff Lead will have both a tactical and strategic focus to ensure: (1) All Energetics & Propulsion Tech Staff have the proper architecture to achieve customer requirements in the least amount of time and cost, (2) Composability is being fully utilized across the Product Lines, (3) Staffing of the programs are linked to the Energetics, Firing Train, Lethal Effects Propulsion and Airframe Technology Pyramids and (4) The architecture of all systems (starting with the proposal) satisfy applicable Government Standards, Range Safety, DoT & DoD requirements. You will have direct communication with the Chief Engineer, Functional Directors, Product Line Chief Engineers, Chief Technologists, Engineering Fellows, Program Managers, Government Safety representatives as well as the customer community.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Lead a team of cross functional subject matter experts in the areas of Energetics, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, Reliability and Test. Typical team members will be P5 to F44s.
  • Partner with CTs, IPT Leads and REAs to drive tactical execution, break down barriers and provide quick response decision making/technical review of new and existing Energetics systems.
  • Partner with Chief Technologist and Functional Department Managers to ensure adequate resources are assigned to the programs to meet RMD priorities and commitments.
  • Self-initiate engagement of the PLCEs and Program Directors to understand current and future needs/gaps
  • Balance technical rigor with reasonable technical, schedule and cost risk within program constraints in planning and resourcing.
  • Influence others to achieve technical and programmatic goals
  • Lead others to complete tasks as opposed to solving problems individually.
  • Ability to present explicit and appropriate level of details to senior customer and RMD leadership.
  • See the big picture and become a change agent for the organization striving to improve ownership across all program phases.
  • Instill ownership among teams to develop and execute knowledge point (KP) based plans to help the team drive critical issues to closure, as well as mitigating issues pro-actively prior to production stops and/or schedule slips.



Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
  • 10 years of experience across product life cycles such as; development, critical design, integration & qualification, manufacturing and/or production support activities.
  • Technical or Management leadership role experience.
  • Experience as an engineering lead on programs such as; coordination or cross discipline design, or analysis and/or test of hardware.
  • Experience working with any of the following energetics or propulsion: Warhead, Lethality, One-shot, Fuzing and safety systems, power battery, Hydrocode, ordnance, airbreathing propulsion, solid or liquid propulsion etc.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance



Qualifications We Value :

  • Experience as Chief or Deputy CE
  • Experience as a Section Manager (or equivalent)
  • Experience as a Program IPT or SME Lead
  • Excellent proactive problem solving experience and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent and succinct communication ability in verbal, written and presentation formats; ability to understand and present appropriate information at the appropriate level of leadership.
  • Proactive problem solving experience in both hard and soft arenas
  • FRACAS, Failure Review Board (FRB) and/or Failure Investigation Team (FIT) experience
  • Team thinker, player and builder
  • Advanced degree in aforementioned disciplines. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
